Hi All

Have decided on o vRS estate which I'll be ordering later today :D only problem is do I get Silver or Black  . It's a tough choice, both look really nice but never seen both side by side to make a final decision. Fors and against Silver, looks cleaner longer, doesn't show marks up but it never has that really polished shine. Black looks really shiney when clean but is hard to keep that way and shows up any marks. Neither are in stock at my local dealer so will have to wait which ever colour.

What's the paint like on the octavias is it really good or will it chip quickly?

Your's

Confused from Nottingham;)

PS great site by the way

Im unbiased in the choice here cos ive got the bananamobile :D . IMHO the black does look good & mean  on the RS and I would go for that - maybe with anthracite alloys! Ive heard a lot of people say that silver looks cleaner than most other colours but that certainly isnt the case for my wife's silver Ibiza which seems to look cruddy within seconds - I think its a myth :p . GO BLACK!

Black shows dirt too readily whereas silver doesn't. Go for the latter. :D

Pity Dynamic Blue isn't an option - it looks stunning on the 4X4 Estate! :D:D:D

Oh no Les.........you've just gone a restarted the "what's the best colour" debate.

This is a close second to the "vRS vs 4X4" debate.:D

Too late now, Denis has got his reply in and it won't be long before Des "fires" one back...........

Anyway, I quite like the look of the Corrida Red.....had a look at one in my local dealer over the Easter break; nice. Still don't like the 16'' alloys though; just MHO.

When we were choosing the previous Octy estate dynamic blue was a colour we considered. It looked quite nice on the colour plate but we went with Hot Chilli Metallic (met burgundy to everyone else). Recently seen a dynamic blue estate and...ahem...let's say it wasn't to my taste. Each to their own I suppose.;)

I would have said black but I reckon this would make the alloys look even smaller.

Cheers.

Adrian.

I know what my first choice would be Silver.

My RS is Silver and I was out cleaning my car at the weekend and noticed quite a few stone chips some of which I had to use some touch-up paint on. I wouldn't like see what a Black RS looks like after a while. Mind you Black does look nice, but you have to clean it much more than you would a Silver car to keep it looking that way.

But thats just my opinion.

Yellow!!!!, I like the black, would if it was an estate probably silver, its a v hard decision on the estate. Good luck!

Is the bananamobile available in the estate version? Now that would be some sight!!!

Nick it is available in Yellow (which would match my motorbike  ) but the wife refuses to drive a yellow or red car :( so Black or Silver it is

Still don't know from Nottingham :)

Got to decide in 3 hours

Black... Lots of washing to look forward too, but boy, does it look good.

Q.

Gordon Lamb at Chesterfield have a Black estate RS as a Demo

(In case you need to see one in the flesh) & a Silver RS hatch in the showroom.

Good Luck

Graham

I like some yellow cars - can't say the Octavia is one of them. I think with the exception of Porsches they're all Italian - Ferraris, Fiat Cinquecento, Lambos. I don't think many cars can carry off yellow and the custard shade they chose for the Octy just screams "taxi" to me (and others apparently, eh John S.? ;) )

Nick - most offended now  I deliberately didn't say anything about the yelllow as I wasn't asked, but am now well huffy that you think the cinquecento looks better

Personally think the yellow is a much nicer shade than the one used by Seat but guess it would be very broing if we all liked the same thing..... and BTW :p ;)

I do like yellow and if I was having a hatchback I'd be very tempted.

Think they would make a handsome pair

Still not sure from Nottingham

I just think if cars are going to be yellow (and it's a very difficult colour to carry off) it has to be YELLLLLLOOOOOWWWW!!!! not just yellow.

No offence intended :p

Nick - Know what you mean about loudness of yellow but personally feel that the Skud would not look right in a loud yellow as it isn't quite radical / fast enough to carry it off - plus I am not a big fan of being noticed too much for a variety of reasons  (yellow was a forced option but one which I like a lot now :D)

Les - think you'll have to end with the pinstickers option given the amount of time you've got left now - we all love our motors (and their colours) so its your call .... tho you could always try getting the yellow and then running very fast from the wife

Darren,

If your serious about the swissol comment, keep you eyes peeled, we have somthing pending in the test area...cough must go.

But afore I do Black is my choice too. Silver is good aswell of course, but black and estates and peformance, well it's all very 22nd reg.

Tough choice, would really need to see both estates in the flesh to choose, I would choose yellow but as thats not an option blacks the most sporty of the two colours you have in mind IMHO, I think Octavia estates look great in Silver and my Silver Octavia does keep clean looking. After nearly 3+ years still hasn't any visible swirl marks, probably would have with black.

Black will need the most care but if you have the time and will come up stunning although will show all chips and other blemishes.

If I was choosing I would probably vere towards Black as its a VRS.

I think you made a good choice , my dealer has a Silver vRS estate in the showroom and (even tho i have a silver vRS hatch) i dont think it looks good in silver , certainly not as good as the hatch does! I think the black (the only other colour ive seen the vRS estate in 'in the flesh') looks much better , but...THOSE alloys...look so small compared to the 17s on the hatch!

Hi,

Bear in mind that yellow is the colour of choice for hairdressers!

Oh yes, very nearly, the Merchandise thread is the begining :D

Just need to make a call to confirm everything is still okay, had a busy April, was all meant to happen months ago...

Well, I ordered my Swisol last Wednesday from Mark. It arrived on Thursday! :D

It takes time to clay bar the car, but it is well worth it. Then applied the cleanser, oh wow, the paint is so dark and lustrous. Then it was time to put the wax on. How easy was that? I've never had a wax that was so easy to apply and then take off!

Result, the shiniest my car has ever been with a really deep colour to it, and glassy smooth thanks to the combination of clay bar and cleanser. :D

People say it is expensive (

What happened about the gravel rash on the front of the car, Jon?

Still there and to be honest, I don't care :D

Seen a nice bumper and bonnet from the Octavia kit car that I have my eye on :D
