Playtime..........!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am goin to start spending some cash on my pride and joy. After looking through various mod's discussed on the forum:read: i have decided on these. A carboniair(?) intake, forge divertor valve and up-rated intake/turbo hoses (samco?) Audi s3 upper strut brace and poss some new wheel's:thumbup:? Am i goin in the right direction with these subtle mods? any other suggestions? Thanks in advance........

In a word - yes. Think you need the top and bottom S3 front struts to get any benefit.

Once those are done raid the piggy bank for a re-map and your defo heading in the right direction

Rear anti roll bar, Remap, Audi S3 lower brace (this is the one that makes the difference!) and loads of these :D:D:D imo

Id not bother with all these fancy intakes and hoses, not very cost effective. Lex Dysia has some good ideas however.

In order of priority:

  1. Rear anti roll bar (£150)
  2. Front wishbone bushes (£60-70)
  3. Lower S3 brace - top is only for show (£35)
  4. Dog bone poly bushes (£30ish)
  5. Turbo back system (3" down pipe and 2.5" cat back system) (£700)
  6. Performance panel air filter (£35)
  7. APR/Forge recirculating dump valve (£80)
  8. THEN GET IT REMAPPED!! (£400ish)

With the above mods on you'll be looking at a healthy 230-240bhp I would think, excluding the turbo back system 210/215bhp.

(Priced don't include any fitting)

Oversized/samco hoses do very little on the standard KO3s set up, however they do look very good, but as said earlier in the thread not very cost effective.

Save your money on getting new wheels....spend it on the engine or chassis!!

Enjoy:D

id go with that advice as well

Thanks for that guy's, steevie wonder i was also considering a cone filter, i take it the panel filter works better?

The panel filter won't pick up the heat from the engine. You can re-route the cold air feed into the box. Some even de-fin the inside of the box and drill the base to get more air into it. Go for something like a Pipercross as a K&N can clog up the MAF due to the oil on it.

A big no no is the exposed cone filter in the engine bay - as metioned above too much heat, your options are:

  1. Replacement element: K&N or Green Cotton
  2. ABD Racing cold air inlet (CAI) or Carbino - this routes a large tube down from the MAF to behind the bumper to where the cold dense air is. If you go with this option you might want to get a larger cone air filter as they only come with a 6"x4" one. I use a 12" x 6"-4" cone.

CAI's are not much better, but they do look much better IMHO

Take a look at my pics for an example of the ABD cold air induction kit.

As for oil on the filters, if you clean them with parafin you should be fine.

Hope that helps:thumbup:

Steve:)
