Roomster problem with warning light

Featured Replies

We bought a new Roomster and the warning light and chiming is indicating a door open. Having checked all doors and boot it still comes on intermittently. Already took it to the garage as its under warranty and they haven't been able to sort it so far. Seems to be worse in the rain, sometimes it came on when the car is parked (key in ignition) Actually we noticed it doesn't do this when the weather is dry! Just wondered if anyone else had this particular problem as otherwise we are happy with it. Dreading endless trips to the garage, it can't be that complicated can it???

Welcome to Briskoda,

Sorry can't help with your problem, hope you get it sorted soon.

Thank you for the welcome. We just wondered if anybody else had this problem with the Roomster as dealer says this problem has 'never happened before' and we are the only customer to have this problem?

Thanks

Welcome Sally21!

I have not had a similar problem, but my wifes Favorit was playing up a little while back and we think that was because of damp in the electrics. Her car is 75,000 miles old so we were not surprised. Sorted the problem by using the hairdryer on the fuse box and carefully going over the various connectors with a kitchen towel.

That said, you should not have to do that with a new car.

I only trust that your dealer will take your query seriosuly and give the car a thorough check over.

I am often disappointed with dealers who try and tell folk that they are the only one a particular problem-that is rarely the case and customer satisfaction should be there watch word.

I hope you do manage to get the car sorted as they are generally great cars as you will note from other threads on this forum.

Enjoy your car! :)

I have not had a similar problem too...

If it only happens when wet, then water is getting in somewhere it shouldn't. The door open warning is almost certainly activated by a switch - if water gets into that switch (in wet weather), it could create a contact even with the door is closed.

A lot of garages plug in their computer and look for fault codes, if there's no fault code, they're stuck. The Fabia and Roomster have a new style of wiring called CANBUS and that's what allows all these fancy features to appear on a car like the Fabia. A fault with that system cannot be ruled out.

Keep a diary and collect detailed information on when the fault appears. You may find that a pattern emerges. You've already noticed an association with wet conditions, but how wet? How long does the car need to be out before the problem shows itself.

It will get sorted, but intermittent problems that are climate related are notoriously difficult to fix unless you can reliably recreate the fault. Keeping detailed notes may help you achieve that.

We've just got ours and that light came on after I'd had a root around opening and closing all the doors... in my case I hadn't closed the boot door properly, it wasn't really noticable as being open but pushing it gently showed a bit of movement so I opened and closed it again and it was ok... I think that you just need to be "firm" when shutting the rear door, thats all... otherwise it may be that the offending door needs adjustment...

Speaking of which - I assume that you try all the doors until you find which one is causing the problem? Is it the same door or different ones, if the latter I suspect that you are closing them too gently... I have to say they are not as "solid" sounding as my previous Fabia doors, though whether thats to do with the large sound box inside I'm not sure, they do seem to need a firmer push to close them properly!!

Thank you for all your replies. Our garage gave us a courtesy car and fixed the problem by inserting a new lock on one of the doors. Its great service from Skoda dealers, our Roomy is back home again:thumbup:

I too have had problem today with door open light and pinging sound.

Even more frustarting as when driving along the door open light comes on and it pings. Then when I use the brake pedal, it goes off!?

Then when you start driving again it come on and pings again?

Anyone with any ideas? could it be due to the cold affecting the relays -3 degrees?

Very frustrating as i know all the doors are shut ok.

Anyone else any ideas
