Felica engine/gearbox mounts

Featured Replies

1.6 1999 petrol. Sorry guys- done a search on this, but can't find my answer.

So far as I can make out- there are 3 mounts.

Engine mount- drivers side at the top

Gearbox mount- passenger side at the top

Rear gearbox steady

I think my problem is with the top gearbox mount. Correct me, but this is in 2 parts.

One part is a square housing. The other is a bush in the gearbox casing.

If I am right- Can the casing bush be replaced. if so- can it be replaced without removing the box?

New to Skoda, so forgive me!

you can replace them without removing the gearbox but it is quite difficult, if you support the box with a jack, you can unbolt the end casting from he end... the mounting itself is made up from 2 L-shaped brackets and a bolt that goes through the rubber bushing.

Thanks. Sorry to labour the point- so there are 2 parts to this mount.

One a square sort of guide. the other is pushed into the gearbox housing. Yes?

If I am right, what is needed to extract this bush- and refit?

i think i'm getting confused, there is a aluminium casting which makes up the end of the fifth gear cover plate on the end of the gearbox, this extends up, there is a circular rubber bush encased in a steel retainer ring which is press fitted into this casting

then you have a nut and bolt which goes through the centre if the rubber bush which secures the 2 L shape brackets to the bush. also in addition to this there is a square shaped metal retainer which goes on top of the mounting point on the chassis(which only fits one way)

OK. Now can this rubber bush encased in a steel housing be replaced.

If so, can it be done in situ. And how?

yes, it can be replaced, no not in situ, but you can leave the gearbox in and just take off the end plate:confused:

Right- now I understand! Sounds like a pig of a job. But here we go.
