Brake pads advice

Featured Replies

My octavia mk1 needs new brake pads.here in venezuela i cant find good prices on originals...do the vw golf mk4 pads are fine for my car? Makers?thanks in advance.

What make/model and engine have you got and do you know if you have FSIII calipers (will be cast into the front callipers) or ATE calipers?

I'd swear I answered this yesterday, and said to look for Golf parts by caliper type and disc size. You'll need both data because there are several permutations.

I have the FSIII types on my car.what is your advice?2.0 8 valves engine,auto trans.thanks

You can get Golf front pads to fit, but you still need the disc size.

I would think and it's just a guess based on the TDI 110 that the FSIII he has will be 280mm, mainly as the smaller ones would be, IMHO, quite lacking in stopping power for a 2.0 petrol.

As said by ken, the pads and discs for the VW golf MK IV will fit, but you need to get the right size disk plus the correct pads for that.

Likewise; I'm pretty sure it's either 280s or 288s given the FSIIIs, but I honestly don't know which are where other than on the TDi110.

Right. Let's put an end to this!

2 litre mk1 Octavia has;

Front: FN-III Calipers, 280mm diameter discs, 22mm disc thickness.

Rear: 232mm disc diameter, 9mm disc thickness.

Now just find pads to fit, like the others said.

My apologies for not memorising the Skoda parts catalogue. ;)

Are the breake configurations the same in all countries as certainly some skodas have rear disks/drums depending on the importer. I wonder does this apply to the brake sizes as certain countries use smaller wheels so you would possibly have to get smaller brakes.

The spec Bodge quotes will fit under 15s (and 312s with DS3s will fit under VAG 16" alloys).

I know that Ken, my point is do we know if they fit the same brakes there as they would in the UK.
