Two furby fault codes to investigate

Featured Replies

Have two codes which are confusing me for different reasons

1) Vehicle Speed Sensor, implausible signal P0501 35-00

Now I know the car has 4 speed sensors, in each hub.... Why isn't it telling me which one it is, or am I missing something here about the speed sensor? Could there be only 1 with it being an X plate TDI (pre my ETKA periods)?

2) High pressure sensor, open or short to ground. Ummm, fine, but where is this sensor please? :o

Is the High pressure sensor on the AC?

Yep - It is on the A/C but not sure if in the engine bay, or in behind the dash somewhere (I hope the former)

Edit: Whilst in conflab with my little parts contact, the mention came up of a CRANKSHAFT speed sensor? Has it got one? Would explain the lack of pointer toward a wheel and also why the fault code is in the engine section. :D

On a VW golf its beside a wee plastic box where the flow/return go through the bulkhead.

Not sure on the fabia, sorry :(

I do have a spare "thrust sensor for vehicles with air conditioning" here, but I don't know if high pressure sensor fault code relates to the thrust sensor in the A/C pipework which resides near the fuel filter. thrust/high pressure? Hmmm, I know the map sensor for boost is called a thrust sensor too, which monitors pressure.... hmmm, maybe? :D In theory I only need look to see if the plug is connected or not.

That crankshaft sensor would explain the poor running for sure.

MAF indeed, pah.

Well, it's not running poorly, just classic limp mode. MAF is still dodgy too so is being replaced. :)

Can we be sure that "speed sensor" is the crankshaft sensor?

Vehicle speed sensor could well be on the gear box, the high pressure sensor is on the air conditioning pipe close to the fuel filter.

Not sure if it would be the same on the Fabia, but when the crankshaft sensor went on my Astra, the rev counter stopped working and it was almost impossible to keep the engine running. Are you displaying these symptoms?

Nope - rev counter is working fine and car drives "ok" - Definitely ticks over cleanly and revs up cleanly. There's just little to no boost due to the MAF.

Silly thing to say Jason, but check the tyre size. Heard about a problem like this and it was the depth of tyre that screwed it up...........

Just a suggestion mate
