Sony DSC-T700

Featured Replies

I'm looking to replace my trusty Sony DSC-W1 camera and like the look of the new Sony DSC-T700, has anyone here used one?

I use my camera a lot underwater so a DSLR is out of the question and i need one that is both compact and has a marine housing rated to a minimum of 40m, at sensible money.

A guy last week was using one on the same live aboard boat that i was on and the video footage that he had shot looked very good (on the camera's 3.5" LCD screen) but i haven't seen the photo's or video on a decent size screen yet, so can't comment fully on it's quality.

I was in a similar predicament to you recently I had to replace my ageing Sony DSC-V1 with a more practical camera.

I was impressed with the image quality on the Sony so stayed loyal and bought a Sony DSC-T77 mainly for the touchscreen goodness.

It's very quick to start up and great for taking snapshots, but it's quite poor in low light and basically, there are a lot better cameras out there for the money.

I know the T700 is a lot more sophisticated than the T-77, but it uses the same lens so I can't imagine the pics will be a great leap forward.

I would strongly recommend a high end Canon Ixus for your needs.
