New Superb a disappointment

Featured Replies

And have no non slip mats in which superb 1 did - everything slides everywhere

I cant remember, does the new Superb have a dash top cubby like the Octy?

Regretably not

regarding the right foot rest - i think you will find this is pretty unique and if you comare the superb with the passat, A6, E-class, 5 series then none of these (as fas as i know) have a right footrest.

I for one, will miss the right throttle footrest. When using cruise control it is the perfect place for your right foot. It's a shame this was not carried over to the Superb II.

Yeah, the footwell is narrower....carry over fom Octy.....Phaeton....its a bit too big.

The whole thing is like Seat a few years ago......they brought out the mk3 toledo, looked like the Renault Vel Satis..... they just lost the plot...

I was searching for a review and came across the TopGear website:

Skoda Superb expert car review verdict - BBC Top Gear

is it me, or have the teenage web-journo's got above themselves and reviewed the old model but forgot to tell the graphics department?.

I don't think there is any doubt about it

"TG Tips - Hold on, hold on. There’s a vastly better one being launched in September 2008." Given we are now in November and they are showing a piccie of a new one I'd say it's misleading until you get to the bottom. Has anyone emailed them about it?

Am I missing a trick here - but where is the footrest for the right foot on a RHD Superb Mk1 Auto? There is absolutely no room between the throttle pedal and the inside trim other than about an inch. So where is the foot rest. I know about the footrest for the left foot on the Auto?

Regards

John

Do a lot of no-footed driving, do you?

I saw the new Superb on the SOC stand at the Classic Car show at the weekend. I was very impressed, build quality and finish was top notch and the hatch/saloon rear end is revolutionary!

Yes when on cruise control on an autobahn, payage or clear motorway

Sorry - but to repeat myself where is the foot rest for the right foot on a Superb Mk1 Auto?

Regards

John

i think you will find people are referring to the right foot rest on the octavia I not the superb I.

i dont see the need to be honest. i put my foot flat on the floor when i am cruise and suits me OK.

Oh the follow-up possibilities for this are endless.......

Seriously, I can understand the requirement for a LH footrest, but I'm not sure I get the need for the RH one. Besides, the footwell isn't the largest in the world, and adding a 2 inch wide piece of plastic to the right of the accelerator would be difficult at best.

I agree - I have had cruise in my Saab 9-3, and current volvo V70. can't see there would be room for a foot rest, and when on cruise, I simply pull my right leg back a bit and rest it on its side - not a problem.

I dunno, next they'll be wanting a headrest incorporating temple massagers.

Before getting my Octavia I drove many cars with cruise control and did not look for a right foot rest, however, having used the one in the Octavia and gotten used to it, it is sorely missed when I drive cars without it now.

I am sure I read somewhere that the person who designed the Toledo MK3 was the same as the person who made many awful Renaults. Don't know how true that was, but they were strikingly similar.

I think the new Exeo from Seat would have been better for the Mk 3 Toledo.

I had a MK2 Toledo and when the MK3 came out, my loyalty to SEAT dropped! Skoda now for me.

And as for the new Superb, I rather like it, and I will have one when mine is up for replacement - finances permitting.
