Anyone got one of these sat navs

Featured Replies

The 1DIN one is complete crap. A friend had one installed on his car. He sold it in weeks for a huge loss.

A stand alone sat nav is a far better option. They are getting cheaper all the time and the major manufacturers provide relatively frequent map updates which are essential unless you want to find yourself driving across fields or missing new junctions.

Looks like they are using route 66 which is one of many sat nav programs out there which get frequent map updates.

I have a Tom Tom 720, but have stopped using it.

Fed up with sticking it to the window and taking it out every time I get out of car and visit a client (several times a day). So I opted to fit a MFD2 (prefer a MFD3 but it is ££££). It is just there all the time. It also integrates with my maxidot which is brilliant. Setup is a little slower, but you get used to it. prefer the instructions on the MFD2. plus I have TMC for what it is worth. Now if I could have a Tom Tom 740 integrated into the car......with the new traffic redirection hardware..... that would be something.

So I would say that for the average person you are correct, but for some people, a unit in the car all the time is the better option.
