Yet another central locking problem !!

Featured Replies

Yes folks...time to resurrect some of the old threads I suppose :(:(.

The driver's door lock has stopped working when using the both the remote fob switch, and also the anti-hijack switch on the inside of the drivers door. I previously had an identical problem with the o/s/r door but cured this with copious amounts of WD40. I have tried the same this morning with the drivers door but to no avail.

I have just spent the past hour reading various threads on here as to how to cure it (as I have done previously), but most other threads seem to have other problems too, such as interior light not working or dash light showing a door open - mine has none of these. I have tried disconnecting the battery, but that didn't work, and all 4 doors will lock manually with the key in the driver's door lock. The lock only works if you press the locking button down by hand.

I have had the door card off, and seperated the connector, but all appears in order in there, and there is no sign of water or corrosion.

Anyone got any other suggestions please ???

Sounds like the door controller which is attached to the Window Motor (the square bit secured by spring clips and latches). It is common for the electronics that control the door motor to burn out. The same unit also controls the window, electric mirror and mirror heater.

It could also be the lock.

Hold the fort....the WD40 must have slowly worked it's way into the problem area, 'cos it's working fine now..:woohoo::mw:

i am sooo glad i have seen this, as i have just bought an octy (with the garage being aware at the time of sale) and have the exact same problem.

Just the drivers door that will not lock with the key fob, yet will lock with the use of the key in the door... hmmm so some WD is in order you think???

And where exactly am i suppose to be spraying

May need more than WD40. I tried that today but found that one of the pins on the door control unit was actually snapped off. The plug didn't show much sign of corrosion - althought there was a bit of rusty deposit on the face at the bottom.

Need to look at the pins on the control unit itself - bottom middle on snapped/corroded off for me.

Am now looking for a replacement window control unit.
