W8 interior light mod - fitted Octavia mk1

Featured Replies

Not sure on the depth of the W8 unit as I don't have one to measure, but I would estimate it to be somewhere around 40-50mm

The sizes in the diagram are of the actuall unit, NOT the size of the whole required which is slightly smaller.

*EDIT - Just found one in my box of bits and the depth required to fit one would be around 39mm

Thanks!

Just wanted to know if it would physically fit in the space between the sun visors really so will get me tape measure out tomorrow.

And as said would probably go for the superb version with green lighting as it will match the green lighting in the car.

My Mk 1 Octy sunroof control is seperate behind the light, hence the normal W8 light fits.

I looked at mine yesterday and decided the same thing... passat one it is to get the green lighting......

Has anyone got the part no. for the superb one?

Thats the ivory coloured superb one... i think!

the only prob is my sunroof controls are too far back compared to this and i have an airbag light on the roof to control the passenger airbag on/off. what would i do bout that has anyone fitted this to an mk1 octavia with sunroof and successfully done it

A picture would probably help there as I can't imagine what you're describing.

i dont no if there on all the vrs but my airbag light is nxt to my interior light and when you start the car up it lights up to let you no if the airbag is on or off??

do they do these in black from the suberb

Mine came this morning,so just need to get the correct plugs and will fit it.

It's a pearl grey one from a superb but i may paint it a little darker if i decide i like the look of the lights.

The W8 light without sunroof controls fits Mk1 Octy's with a sunroof just fine. I had one in mine.

The W8 unit uses red button illumination... Which is why I don't really understand people using it. The Superb version uses green button illumination.

The standard unit in your vRS doesn't have button illumination.

My Passat has the same interior light as your vRS, with the 'airbag deactivated' warning light. As far as I can tell, you can't get a cat vision unit which has this warning light. My factory fit cat vision lights are in the bottom of the interior mirror... So I guess that could be an option for you. Or you could get a couple of red LED's and butcher them into your existing interior light.

I am thinking of changing the electric window switches to red. Does anyone know what VAG model had these in red?

My mates Leon Cupra R had red glowing elec window switches

Ordered the plugs, wiring etc...so i may have time to fit this weekend and do a guide/pics of what it looks like.
