N249 Valve???

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just had the VAG-COM on my car and its brought up that the N249 valve is faulty. Anybody know where this is located on the car (vRS mk1) and some photos would be helpful too.

Cheers

Paul.

I think that it at the front of the engine on the underside of the plate next to the dip stick. That is where the vacuum/breather pipes are located that frequently split leading to poor running and various fault codes.

Yep, it operates the DV.

Changed mine a while back. It's a bit fiddly and awkward to get to, but a pretty basic job. As said, it's under the metal plate infront of the inlet manifold. You'll notice the N112 to the left of it also, and all the vac hoses in the world attached to that plate!

Get some spare vac hose and clips before you start the job, incase anything breaks. And be gentle with the dipstick tube, they tent to crack if pushed about.

Make sure you have some good pliers for removing the sprung hose clamps, they are tiny and annoying as hell!

Think a new N249 was about £40-£50 from Skoda.
