VRS Power Seems Dull

Featured Replies

I'm going to have a little play with gear changing this evening. When does the car hit maximum torque on the rev range?

Max tourque is about 1900 RPM IIRC

I usually drive between 2 - 3/3500 and it seems fine.

Try a search for the 'cage' mod, I did it to my vRS and it does seem better.

Max torque is indeed 1900, but max power is 4000, so for the 'briskest' driving you need to hit max power and change up at 4000. Max torque is lovely for overtaking, and whilst it may not feel as though it has as much shove higher up in the rev range, it is the fastest way to accelerate (I believe).

RBW.

I agree

Remap will widen the torque band considerably

We are offering the P-Torque remap and free dyno power runs for £265.00 all in at the moment

First think to check, are you remembering to short shift? The max torque is in a narrow rev band, and it all comes in one huge lump rather than a steady build up. Once you get outside the rev range it all goes pear shaped if you forget to short shift. To get the maximum from the VRs you sort of have to learn to drive all over again :D

The reverse is also true! After driving the VRS for 10 months I jumped back in a 1.8vvc petrol. I thought there was something seriously wrong with it until I realised I was changing up at around 3,500 rpm instead of letting it rev to the 7,200rpm limit!
