Do I need to buy Sensible Shoes now? NEW CAR

Featured Replies

I know, sometimes I just can't help myself. It's instinctive.

Didn't you have a Fabia vRS SE? Where is that now?

Nope , she had a Mk2 Octavia DSG and then a BMW 123d

I knew it reminded me of something! And that something was the Suzuki SX4...

Bit of a random linking of manufacturers though; do FIAT just team up with anyone? Seeing as they're in with Ford as well at the moment, on the 500/Ka.

Steve

What have you named this one?

Suzi?

@ Allams Skoda: As Dr Zoiberg said, I had the Octy and now have a 123D. The Sedicicicici is a 2nd car. Might be useful too if it’s ready by the weekend, I’m up North and there is an Arctic chill moving in. Snow is forecast for Newcastle!

@ Steve: I think FIAT contributed the engine and a pot of cash to the project. It isn’t really a problem for them that the Sedicicicicici isn’t a big seller over here I guess as Suzuki build them over in Hungary on their behalf and the RHD would be natural for the Japanese company. Probably a shrewd gamble that didn’t quite pay off. I think they are reasonably popular abroad though, there’s a lot of SX4/Sedicicici footage on You Tube.

@ Captain Sisko: I haven’t got a name yet. So after Willberpog, Villberpog what would be next? Sedicipog?

Are you sure you know what your doing venturing 'up Norf'?

A previous thread http://briskoda.net/general-car-chat/m1-beyond-birmingham-northbound-whats-like/121003/ explained what you could expect and I suggest you read this first :D

Aye, wiv got wer ern languidge

I second Pat's 'why?'

Well in another 7 months you'll be paying people to take it, such is the depreciation on Fiats.

And where's the obligatory 4x4/people carrier

And where's the obligatory 4x4/people carrier <3yr old kiddie in the back?

I thought I had mentioned why??? Plus in seven months it won’t have lost anything like as much as in the first 7. I did haggle a rather good deal too btw.

makes note to ask 'why' when people post up their new car purchase:rolleyes:

Enjoy. If the Beemer is anything like the MX in the wet/snow (RWD) don't blame you getting some spare sensible shoes.

As to FIATs (bit OT)...I keep nosing at 124 spyders and Dinos at the moment! Not blooming cheap either!

Still one of my favourite car companies

Wey ah myade it erp. ……..………..in the Fiat and I am still in one piece.

Verdict so far: it isn’t the quietest car out there, but not bad by small 4x4 standards. It is also not too bad in crosswinds (blowing a gale up in the North East at the moment) and whilst in 2wd (I can’t see auto making any difference to the 2x4 and 4x4 economy) I am seeing 46mpg on a long run at motorway speeds. It isn’t anywhere near as well built as my Octy though and I expect a lot of rattles over the next few years. It remains to be seen how it copes in the snow, but snow is forecast in the area for Saturday, so I might find out.

:wrthless:

Most people just change their tyres/wheels for the winter..

Enjoy your new toy Amanda:thumbup:

Picked mine up yesterday as well, was a day of mixed emotions. :o:rolleyes:

I don't think I've ever seen a Sedicicici on the road

Seems to be a nice soft-roader, and certainly more practical for the winter months for work  The 123 is never going to be good when it gets slippery underfoot, dreading the 328 in the winter.

As was pointed out above:thumbup:, a decent set of winter tyres can make a huge difference, especially if you have a couple of bags of sand/gravel etc handy to weigh the back down a little. I had considered this, but need the maximum boot space for work.

Little Fiat and Suzuki 4x4s have a decent pedigree, I'm sure it'll be fine.

First sign of snow though and I'm leaving the car at home :chicken:

The solution I have for the MX5 is three solid steel bars in the boot. I can hardly lift one of them to get them in so it provides a significant level of additional traction!

And suddenly your "nice light sportscar" is nearly as lardy as my Octy ;)

Yep...:o but only on days when it snows and I need to use it (not very often lets face it) and at least i means I can get places (like to work).

Having said that... this year, with three cars, it'll stay nicely tucked up in the garage!

nice car amanda , pleased for you.

thats a good deal for that money, my mrs has a stilo 1.9 diesel and loves it.

electrics can be fun but its never missed a beat in 50k.

Here is Sedicipog just having a quick inspection to check he hadn’t been off road before….he hadn’t:)

Then I took him off road, all in the interests of testing you understand:D
