Eee Pc vs Acer One

Featured Replies

I have an EEE 701 4GB version, because I wanted something with a small screen. Battery life is amazing, and I used it last week on the train from Paddington to the west country. The EEE was on the whole way, and when I shut it down just before getting off the train the battery was sitting at 30% remaining. This was with wireless turned off, brightness on normal and CPU overclocked. I find the celeron cpu in the 701 fine, it does the job it was intended for. The 701 boots into a standard XP pro useable desktop in less than 1minute and the SSD doesnt seem slow.

I have the EEE 901. XP, 12GB SSD drive (although its a fast 4GB with XP and slower 8GB for programs etc). I went for the SSD because I thought it would be more robust, but after looking round when I had a slight problem I discovered that they have a very short lifetime.

Perfect for hauling to uni though, and very EEEasy () to touch type on the smaller keyboard. Cant fault the 901. Manage to get 8 hours battery out of it too.

My friend has the Acer One although with Linux. He rarely uses it because Linux isnt practical for him.

I guess that screen size matters - the screen area of the 701 is two thirds of the 900 and of course the larger screen sucks more juice out of the battery. Also, if you're among the lucky ones that got the larger battery (5.600 mAh instead of the 4.400 that is common on many markets) it means a lot.
