Rough idea of new clutch price?

Featured Replies

My Octi 2.0 Tdi (140)'s biting point seems a bit higher all of a sudden. I take it that means the clutch is on it's way out (31k miles).

Anyone have an idea what kind of financial damage this is going to cost ?

You will have a DMF fitted, so if the clutch is on the way out why not replace the DMF flywheel with a solid one at the same time.

I was quoted £200 for the flywheel kit £650 with fitting by the stealer, but only £400 by an independant

ouch, did that price include the clutch, or was that just the DMF?

That price was for a solid flywheel and clutch kit the DMFs are more expensive and they keep going wrong if you hear a knocking when at idle it will be the DMF

Cheers Skippy, I'm not getting a knocking noise thank god, but it's just that the biting point seems to have suddenly jumped up about 3/4 of an inch. Just the kind of bill you need just before crimbo :-(

You would know if the clutch is slipping as it would be harder to get into gear and it would not pull away easily.

If it is on the way out and you decide to change it sooner rather than later, get them to fit the solid flywheel kit it will save you from paying twice to get the job done

Count yourselves lucky, just had the clutch in my 944 replaced and it was nearly £700 and that from an independent :(
