Stereo query?

Featured Replies

Yesterday whilst pulling out of a car park, I eased over a speed bump when the stereo which was on low volume suddenly made a loud bang! It scared the crap out of me! It then starting ticking. I turned the engine off and on and it still ticked:mad: When I eventually got home I left it for a while and tried again. It seems to be ok. Anyone else had this. Will be going to dealers as soon as.

This 'phenomenon' has come up here a few times before.

I can't recall but it could be a problem with either the head unit or the speaker wiring.

Do a search for 'bang from speaker' or similar and it should yield some useful info

Ta will have a look.

Same happened two times for 6 months with mine .

Happened to me one day, I was slowing up at a roundabout and the bang was so loud I thought someone had driven ito the back of me! Then the speakers ticked like it had the indicators wired up to the speakers.

The dealer replaced the unit. I assume you have the stream unit.

The turbo on my vRS seems to interfere with the sound if I am playing music from the diskchanger... very strange indeed.

Mine does this! I'm thinking that it might have something to do with the earth wire on the changer unit

Won't be the turbo, most likely the alternator.

If you are running a Stream radio take it to your stealer for a firmware update. Had the bang/pop issue with my stereo it was a known issue last year. New firmware fixes it, never happened again. ;)

My previous Octy used to suddenly switch radio stations for fractions of a second and turn the volume up at the same time - friggin scary it was!! No such drama with Octy number 2 so far though I'm pleased to say.
