TomTom speed camera PoI

Featured Replies

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a free speed camera PoI database? I'm running TomTom 6 on a Windows PDA. I'm not too interested in it being "bleeding edge" as I've come to know most of the cameras in my usual patch but it would be useful to have a vague idea of where to expect others when I'm roaming.

The searches I've run so far point to a db which used to be free but is no longer so.

Thanks,

T

Just looked at one I used previously - when they started charging it at least allowed you a one off download for £2.00 IIRC - now it appears you need a 12 month subscription.

Thanks Andy, I think that's the one I have seen too. Anyone else?

GPS World is the best place.

I used to have a subscription. It's cancelled now though.

Allows downloads for all sorts of devices.

The PGPSW data base is now updated weekly and although its £19 a year, it is that much for a reason, its the best value. The subs do actually help pay for the site and the verification on the locations.

Also, if your the first to report a camera then you get free subs for life. I have somehow managed to get this and so my updates will be free.

Also remember, unless its changed, they allow you to use the database on several machines within your family but do crack down on piracy if anyone puts the database on ebay etc.

pocketgps is now updating weekly, however they have been removing lots of mobile sites recently for ones that havent been re reported in 6 months, annoying that i have spent a few hours going over my local area re adding the ones that are still active and has now lowered my trust once again in it.

But are these locations that YOU have SEEN a camera there recently or locations that have been used over the last several years.

If the former then mail them and tell them.
