Looking to buy a VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Looking for a new car over next couple of weeks and a VRS is looking likely

Couple of questions

1. Ive seen RS and VRS advertised what are the differences?

2. Is about £3k about right for 2001 models (VRS)

3. Are they only available with the Black and white interior (looks like ill ruin it quickly)

Cheers Matt

Ps anyone selling please PM Me

1. No difference, only the one model. I think Ford complained about Skoda using the RS name, so they just started calling it a vRS instead.

2. Yeah I'd say £3-4.5k depending on milage etc.

3. Only one interior style for the vRS.

Options are sunroof, heated seats, side airbags, zenons, satnav/cd double din computer thing and cruise control I think. None of which I have or want on mine!

Good luck, there are some bargains out there.

Hope this helps.

Ok here goes:

1: RS and VRS are the same, something to do with legalities with Ford as to the RS name I believe forced the change

2: 3k might get you newer if you look around

3: The interior is a pain, yes it is only available in black and white

HTH

you can swap the interior with other (easier to clean) interiors from Volkswagens, Skodas and Audis. I have just put seat covers in the front and I never let anyone in the back :D

Cool cheers for the quick replys guys, i was looking at the RS and couldnt really see a difference that explains it.

lad i used to know did retrims etc so might see if i can get in touch again and have the white panels retrimmed.

Just need to punt the old golf now and find me a VRS cheers guys

the 4x4 can be had for less! just as much fun and more of a sleeper. tunes the same as the vrs with generic map to about 205-215.

just have to upgrade the brakes - 288's on the front, they are Pants:thumbdwn:

Cheers didnt realise that so i guess same money buys a 4x4, remap and some VRS calipers/discs?

More to think about now!

matt

The 4x4 is the way to go if you ever intend to tune it up to massive power

As a point of note, options only became available from 2003 onwards. I found that out when I was considering one :)

Re interiors, I know some people have swapped over the carpets for a black variety...

As I understand it...

The car is an 'RS'. My V5 states "Model: RS". I don't think it's anything to do with Ford as Porsche have sold RS models in the UK.

The best & most plausible explanation I have heard is that the small 'v' is not in fact a 'v' but actually represents the symbol used above the S of Skoda. (Sorry; can't remember what it's called. :o). I have an early copy of the brochure for the car. It says Octavia RS on the front & in the text but the car pictured has the 'vRS' badging.

The thing is nearly everyone now calls the car a vRS, including dealers & so I think it has probably now actually become a 'vRS'.

I wonder what it says on the V5's for Fabias & MkII Octys?

(sorry for slightly OT)

Ay mine is listed as an RS on the paper work, caused havoc with some swinton rep!
