RNS510/Columbus installation in Skoda Superb I - is it possible?

Featured Replies

I decided to upgrade my '07 Superb Elegance from Rhapsody headunit to RNS510/Columbus system because of significant (and really needed) new features, but local Skoda dealer just came back to me with the answer - this system is not forseen for your Skoda...

Accordingly - is this really impossible? What features will not work if installed anyway? Any other potential problems? Programming? Etc.?

Many thanks in advance for your ideas :)

The Columbus won't physically fit into the Superb dash without a fair bit of modification (I'm talking about cutting/gluing/filling/painting etc, not just changing parts over.

I've seen the electrical side of it done, but it looked to be a complicated and in-depth process. The Columbus unit is designed to run in much more modern/complex electrical systems.

Unless you have a very good understanding of electronics and or lots of money, it's pretty unrealistic I think.

why not purshase a blaupunkt rome 55...........its built in the dash......has mp3 player.......radio....and sat nav all built in and has the chrome as well........i have it in my superb facelift...although the steering controls for radio dont work......the looks outweigh the minor inconveinience

So in your face lift Superb I, what did you do with the gap you now have under the head unit? Did you put the dash drawer - as seen on the Classic and Comfort models?

Have I missed something? I thought all Superb's came with a double DIN sized hole and those without the DX/MFD whatever had a single din and a drawer...

BTW, to the OP - changing a unit designed for CAN-BUS wiring to a non CAN system will be difficult to say the least, so I'd go for a DX.
