Featured Replies

help pleas been at this for two weeks trying to fix the car.

the battery light on the dash does not light up., and the battery is not getting a charge.

i have had a recon alternator fitted. still the same problem.

so had it tested just incase it had a problem. but it was passed as ok.

tested the heavy wire to the alternator it has 12v going through it.

tested the brown exite wire into the alternator its getiing 11volts.

nothing coming throug the blue wire.

checked all fuses above the battery and in the fuse box on the side of the dash.

had an auto electrician look at it. he was there for an hour. could not find what was wrong. so when he gave up i went to start the car but it would only start for a second then cut out. now the key light is flashing constantly when ignition is switched on..

tryed locking und unlocking the car but still wont start.

im at my whits end. please help.

even if you can show me the wiring diagrames for the car so i can try and bypass the original wiring, incase it is broken some ware allong the lume.

i know the post is a bit on the long side but i thought i would try to explaine as much as possible.

Corroded alternator excite wire on gearbox connector.

had that checked out last week its fine as checked for continuitey on both sides of the conector with battery disconected.

I had the same problem....my alternator didnt kick in untill engine reved to around 3000 revs.... broken wire under gear box or blown battery light..dont know yet what one but car ok if u rev above 2900 each time u start car.

hope this helps.

Hi,

I recently had this problem on my 05 plate 1.4TDI. Turned out to be the blue load sensor wire as stated above. Wasn't corroded at the gearbox connection, but there was a break in it further up apparently.

Dealership charged me about £100 to put in a brand new wire. Now works fine.

Cheers

G.

Hi

I had a problem where I broke down

I was told by the RAC that it was the alternator

Fitted alternator , problem still there

But mine was that wire too

I cant remember where , but yes the wire was at fault

i took car to the skoda dealer to unlock the immobiliser, was supposed to be £35+vat simple task they said.

now they say its the instument cluster is shaged. £460 quid to replace. and who said dealers are feeling the crunch. if i want them to source the charge problem then christmas is over and i will need to assasinate santa.

so the charge problem will have to be found by me. so soon as the dash is replaced i will renew my search for the problem starting with all your replys.

will repost soon as its fixed.

Continuity checks are a poor way of diagnosing a problem. A single strand can carry current and there for have continuity but doesnt mean the consumer will work ok.
