A few questions

Featured Replies

:)Hello everyone as usual I have a few questions that I need some help with. First after reading captain siscos thread about his unfortunate engine mishap I noticed that someone has said that it could possibly have been caused by the thermostat knackering the water pump and thus the cylinder head gasket. My thermostat went about 10 months ago so that was replaced but some parts seemed to have went missing is there any way of flushing them out of the system:confused:.secondly after my starter motor gave up the ghost i noticed that it had put a couple of notches on the flywheel and the car runs a bit lumpy . Its been on diagnostics but that didin,t show anything oh and as an after thought how often should the tappets be adjusted as i,ve done around 55.000 miles in three years and i dont think its ever been.any info would be greatly recieved cheers

P.S before I go I,d like to thank everyone for there info regarding the fifth gear nuts my local garage is doing the job on friday for £75 while its gettin serviced cheers mate:thumbup:

Valve clearances should be adjusted around every year or 10,000 miles I would say.

chers for that I better get that done during the service then

you can probably find the larger missing pieces in the radiator, i dont have that since people take off the thermostat here looking to buy new one, but what i did do is remove the bottom hose and flushed the engine with a garden hose with good presure for a couple of min, that was after my Creolina cleaning, if pieces are big enogh taking out the radiator and flushin it will take them out

I'm glad my thread helped but am still mourning the loss of my poor Felly.

I was sorry to hear about your car but if your thread saves one felly from the same fate its not all been in vain.:(

As long as my experience saves another good Felicia suffering the same fate then at least im doing some good.

Looking at replacement Skodas now.

Going for the 1.3 this time round :D

My Dads been looking at Almera Tinos etc.... but I'm like eeeekk!!!!!!

Once you're on the Skoda side its hard to go back to anything less

I feel the same think thats me a skoda nut know.three years motoring and i,m just starting to get the odd niggle . If your looking at 1.3 then go for the higher output engine model mines is only an 1.3l and has no power (have been sitting at high motorway speeds then hit a hill and it slows to about sixty)saying that mines has lots of bits from the better models courtesy of the local scrappies. anyway i,m ramblina bit good luck with the huntin.

I think you''ll find it will improve once you have the valve clearances correctly adjusted

Happens with most cars.

My 1.6 would happily sit at 65 slowing to about 60 going up hill. I aint bothered about power I need a Skoda before my Dad buys an Almera Tino

Drove a Transit Diesel (no turbo) which held speed well but I had to slow down uphill as noone let me out to overtake a truck and soon every truck going uphill had passed me.

The last Tranny I drove would hold 70 one-up on m/way hills, but not recover or accelerate over 60 if you lost speed.

i wish i could get a felicia diesel, i can put a turbo here no problem and the fuel economy is insane on that car
