Only had my 05 plate Octy VRS 3 weeks and have enjoyed owning the car so far.

Today I had parked the car up and went to open the door from the inside and it wouldn't open, I tried again presuming it was to with the anti jacking and it still wouldn't open????

I tried lowering the window to open from the outside and the outside handle wouldn't open it either.

The only relevent thing I've noticed is that the internal handle seems to be pulling out further than normal. I should mention that the car is ex-police so I havn't got any warranty that I can return it under.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where/how to start trying to unlock the door??? How would I get access to the internals of the door whilst it is closed?

I've heard of the deadlocks sticking. Sometimes repeatedly locking and unlocking it a few times will free it up.

I think it sounds like the cable may have slipped on the lock: unusual but it does happen.

Does the door lock and unlock normally?

Gave up in the end and took it to the local garage, turns out the cable to the door

handle had frayed. They managed to open door by taking out the door handle which gave them enough access to get the cable to open the door. The door panel was removed and a new cable fitted, best bit is that they only charged £40. Derek Slacks quoted me around £100 and said it was likely door card may be damaged.

Mine did the cable fraying trick a few years ago, . Replacement cable was about £15, iirc from a VW dealer. I also picked up a replacement door cable from the scrap yard as a spare

Removal is more likely to damage the clips behind the door trim than the panel itself. Fortunately they are only a few pennies each.

It least I am sure it is the cable now - just need to get a cable now! Why do these things always happen after hours?
