"y" registrated Octavia heating problems

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a 2001 Y reg elegance tdi octavia, I believe this to be the MK1??

A couple mof days ago, my heating just stopped working. Imean litteraly the day before it was on, and the day after it had stopped working. I have had a look around forums, and used google but as of yet no answer.

So im here to ask you guys, is there a common fault which could explain this? Or is it likely something more sinister has happened.

I have tried to find a search button on this forum, but failed to which is likely me not looking the in the right place.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated, even if you could push me in the direction of a wiring diagram of the heating system, or a how to guide or something that could give me some ideas.

Kind regards

Andrew

Does the fan still operate? Mine (fan)failed a replacement switch, you know the turny dials was needed. Sourced 2nd hand one from a Golf at the breakers.

A facelift mk1 yes.

Since it's an Elegance, I presume it's got the pushbutton "Climatronic" climate control system, and not a plain heater like Loskie describes?

If so, then do you have a normal facia display (current fan speed, ambiant external and selected internal temperature, selected mode)?

If you do, then try semi-randomly poking at the various buttons.

Otherwise, get the Climatronic fault codes read. Check the VAG-Com users forum for someone near you who'll do it for free, or a couple of beer tokens.

yes sorry mine is a mk1 SLX Tdi Jan 1999 air con but not climatic.

The fan still operates, as its blowing the cold air out :-( which in the weather today is just awfull.

Yes mine does seem to have the panel your describing, I will try the systimatic poking of the buttons. If that doesn result in some warm air, is there a DIY way of reading diagnostics or am i to take it to skoda?

Thanks again andrew

It might well be stuck blender flaps or flap actuators, in which case the poking might get them moving again.

To get codes read, click here and look for someone near you, then talk to them!
