chipsaway matching - corrida red

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone can assist

I have had a chipsaway repair on my skoda oct vrs yesterday

This was on the plastic bumper trim at the front.

It is corrida red, but i am convinced the colour does not match the red above on the metal. the repair looks more orangey.

The car has been fairly regularly waxed, so do i need to just wax the new bit to get to the same colour, or get the chipsaway bloke back?!

not just me who thinks the colour not matching!

Any thoughts be appreciated

Gordon

I would get Chipsaway back if I were you. If there is an obvious colour difference then no amount of waxing will rectify it.

Red is one of the hardest colours to match. So get him to come back and make sure he blends the colour into the surrounding area.

They mix the colour acording to the paint code & year of the car.

Get them back to check mate!

My father in law had this problem with Chips away. in the end Chips away paid for it to go to a body shop & refunded half the bill. This was after 3 attempts by them over nearly 4 weeks. Get them back out if your not happy mate.

Reds are notoriously difficult to match, either go too orange or too pink.

If you don't think its a great match, get them back out again.

UPDATE

I called the chipsaway person to ask if he could come have a look at the car as i believed that the colours did not match, the new one was more orange.

i was told that

1) the bumper will never match the wing

2) i dont know about paint

3) how could i be looking at it just now as it is dark

i pointed out that

1) the bumper had actually been resprayed before purchase by a dealer (yr old and had stone chips) and was a perfect match.

2) i had looked at it in sunlight, cloud and artificial light and we still of same opinion

3) my neighbour as he knew has a car in exactly the same skoda colour and there is no difference there and neither is there on the opposite side of my own car.

its the attiutude that made me think this particular one has had unhappy questioners before.

sadly, if claim one was put on chipsaway website, they would go bust in seconds.

All i want is the colours to match!

I will be asking again to come look at it....

As chipsaway are franchisers no doubt there are great people, with good customer relations, just not in my area.

It also means that the franchisee can find himself in a sticky situation if big brother receives a well worded complaint. If he's not prepared to sort it out I think you're more than justified in having a word with the parent company.

I'll go with the fact that the bloke who done mine was a cracker, the job was perfect.

Maybe your area gezza ain't too clued up.

That's ridiculous.. and they had the nerve to suggest that it was down to lighting?

Ive seen plenty of horrific "smart repairs" in my time, but that colour difference is night and day.

If i were you, get a bodyshop to quote for the proper repaint of the bumper, and present the "chips away" guy with it.

I doubt he will be prepared to paint the bumper again, and be honest with yourself, would you trust him again?

His workmanship and eye for detail are obviously questionable, so id be writing a well worded letter to the chips away head office and getting the job done properly.

Wow, thats shocking

Maybe the "Chips Away" gezza can't read!

The paint code is on the car, they have a machine that mixes to the code!

BIG letter/email to HQ has to be done Gordon. Include the photo.

Having seen that picture, you have a right to tell chips away man that you might not know anything about paint, but that you do have eyes and that's all you need to know that that's a **** job!

I know this is no laughing matter, because it's your car that has been defaced in such away - but i have to admit to a s****** when i saw that. Just for the fact that he had the nerve to leave it in that state if nothing else!

He has been "persuaded" to get it re done.

Now anyone know the paint code for corrida red?

he said 8151 which was on my manual, which he did, but although i have been told i know nothing about paint, he has asked if i know of any others.

i did reply i did not know paint had codes, thought it had colours, (;-) but that i would find out!!

Anyone know paint code for corrida red?!

The answer will be on this site somewhere , do a search.

It just so happens I read a post about corrida red a few moments ago and it seems that the paint code is as follows:

Corrida Red - F3K - 8T8T

What year are they quoting there, it may have a different code for another year.

The VIN plate should have the number.

Hang on, you quoted '8151'

The paint code is on the sticker in your boot ( usually stuck in the wheel well)

You are right wayne kerr, i was quoted 8151, aha, we may have sourced a problem!!

i didnt even spot that!! i am an idiot!

Paint code should be on a sticker inside the cover of the service schedule book. It's the second entry in on the second line below the bar codes

Edit: Oops just noticed this is octy 1, the sticker info might be different. Try this link http://briskoda.net/styling-car-care/handy-paint-code-lookup/114206/:)
