Scavenging from one Skoda to another!!

Featured Replies

I'm no longer Skodaless!!!!!!!

Well I was in Birmingham saw the Favorit and bought it.

Her clutch cable had siezed. Prob a generic non skoda bit, she did say the clutch pedal felt stiff.

Put on the cable from my Felicia....and the car drives fine. The woman felt the pedal and was like OMG this feels so much better :D

The car starts and runs fine although it sounds a little rough when starting.

It does sounds a little more rattly than the 1.6 I was used to, but again the car drove fine and it has a working heater!!!!!

Tyres look a little worn but again I had good ones on my Felly so am scavenging them.

The interior window had bad condensation on it, but once that was wiped off it was ok, and the interior could do with a good clean.

Got a few niggles. The brakes feel spongey will have to check the discs/pads and fluid, I broke the dipstick when I got home :o and the MOT expires next week.

I want to scavenge my front suspension which was new can this be taken off and put on without taking the springs off?

I also want to scavenge the exhaust and prob if it fits the interior and most important the Briskoda stickers!!!!

 Glad you've got home ok. Sounds like you've got a bit of a bargain there.

I'd get the fluid changed :) Should be fine then.

I'm not the only one then :D Jorily has them for about £10 I think.

Yes, as it's just been changed the most difficult bit (the bottom bolts) shouldn't be so difficult. In the engine bay just undo the two small nuts, do NOT undo the big middle one :) Save the strut brace too if there is one. The calipers are just 2 bolts and a hose to remove.

Battery would also be the same I think. Rear suspension is relatively easy to take off. Coolant tank should be the same (and apparently they can split), and washer bottle is probably the same. The Rear seats simply unhinge, front seats need a 6mm allen key. Apparently the dash can be swapped out and the heater controls from the felicia can be used if the whole of the heater thing under the bonnet is exchanged too. Tailgate gas struts will probably be the same too.

I'm not sure the exhaust is the same.

The day didn't start well!!!!

borrowed a family friends car (Honda Accord 2001/2 Saloon) to go to a wedding in Kettering.

The sunroof has a small leak, then the washer fluid wasnt coming out of the jet nozzles.

Stopped at one service, filled the tank, then still no water. then the wipers got tangled.

:eek::eek::eek:

Stopped at another services, I had a 10mm spanner but it was too small.

luckily a roofing truck next to our car lent us a bigger spanner.

Took the wipers off the motors entirely. turned them on to reset them.

Then put the wipers back on and tightened the nuts.

Normality!!!!

Wedding was fun then going to Brum.......turn after turn the Sat Nav getting a little irritating by not telling us soon enough where to go.

Get there, getting dark.

Got the old clutch cable off by letting the headlight bulb dangle in the engine bay.

Stuck mine on, and the car drove fine.

And its now at home. Need a good drink

But I'm out of Guinness!!!!!:rofl::rofl:

Sounds like fun, but I'll offer you a mug of tea!

Well done on getting the Favorit! They are a lot of fun - I had one for 3 years :D I think it would be cool to swap the interior from the Felicia into the Favorit. Not too difficult to do either - as the Felicia is just a rounded more modern version of the Favorit. Lots of parts are interchangeable, and I wouldn't have thought you would have a problem swapping in the interior.

I once swapped the whole interior from one felicia into another in one afternoon. It was summer though! :)

Have fun with Favorit and keep us posted.

I'll clean it up first then will get pics.

As for the monster of a Felicia and Favorit do a James May with his Alfaarb. A Felicia one end and Favorit on the other!!

*edit*

I am also scavenging the jack and wheelbrace as the Fellys is in well better condition.

I did notice water in the spare wheel well and it was all sticky.

Cleaned it up a bit and I cant see any ovbious leaks yet.

Also someones lost wheelnuts and replaced them with bolts that sit close on the wheel on the front.

Not handy for me when I was attempting my wheel swaps. Will try when the weather is dry and scavenge a few wheel nuts.

Would it be possible to scavenge the locks and keys from the Felly?

As in fit my central locking, keys, igntion barrell and then just have the key re-chipped cause I only got the 1 key with the Favorit and retrofitting my old barrels would mean I can keep my 2 keys.

I had a wheel well full of water when I got mine. I removed the rear seats, parcel shelf, and carpet. Poured a bucket of water over and got in and felt for water. I found it appeared to come through the bottom between the seal and the tailgate so I stuck a strip of the stuff you can buy from B&Q intended for round the edges of baths on the metal of the tailgate where it contacted the seal. I also sprayed silicone oil on the seal. There is still a tiny bit of water getting in somewhere in heavy rain but much much less than before. I suspect silicone grease (rather than oil) smeared on the seal might work better.

The key with your favorit won't have any chip in it, you can take it to your high street key cutter and get some made for under £10 each which would be easier than replacing all the locks. Do you have the small immobiliser key that you have to put in before you can start the car? These are not available now but can PM you the instructions on how to remove the immobiliser someone on here sent me if needed.

I've no idea how the felicia central locking works, or if the locks are interchangeable. The other obvious benefit of Felicia keys is they are double sided. I installed an aftermarket kit from Maplins that was about £23. Seems to be going a bit ****y occasionally now in the cold weather, think some grease is needed to stop water getting in and freezing.

No I didnt get a small immob key, thats prob what the keyhole is in the dashboard.

Taken today after a good wash and wax. Scrubbed up nicely. :D

Bonnet up was at my works car park.

:wow::orb_cool_

That shows a lot of elbow grease!

Damn, kinda wish I'd bought the car now. Still, you need it more than me I guess, and you've got the parts to hand.

Car looks well - :) Very pleased for you!

Theres this girl in the office looking to buy a car and she was gobsmacked when I told her what I bought it for.

Another colleague said you could have sold it to her.

My reply? No chance!!!! I'm having fun with my Favorit now too good to sell on.

Where else can you buy a simple to run car, and have fun swapping bits? :D

Just had the steering and CV boot gaitors done for the MOT retest next week.

Also just greased the brake pipes which looked recently done and the petrol pipes which were corroded.

Servicing the car next week when it hits 50k miles.

Looking good! Excellent work for an afternoons work. The Felicia trims look good on it too. Are you keeping the front Favorit seats? I think they are much comfier than Felicia ones!

I need to find my allen keys

I cant move the interior door trim so I'm now going to unscrew the speakers take the Favorits door cards off and Jigsaw through to replace them.

Although TBH they dont sound so bad now the stereo has been changed. I ripped out the Goodmans one and stuck in my JVC Cd Changer. Just need my front seats and parcel shelf now

The interior door trim is held on by screws - under the handles (which the outers parts prise off), and behind the door catch. There is also a screw underneath the arm rest - behind a small piece of plastic. I think the rest of the door is held on my the plastic lugs - the door lock catch will have to be unscrewed to remove the door card too. The window winder - if fitted depending on spec will need the plastic at the bottom of it prising off, and then undo the screw there. The door pocket on the Felicia is held on by screws from the inside of the door trim I think. I am thinking of this from memory - so maybe best to check the haynes manual first! :)

I had to remove the door trim from my sisters fiesta - and it wasn't that difficult once you know where most of it is held on! ;)

I mean the interior door trim looks the same but is differently positioned on the Favorit and Felicia so it's not a straight swap unless I'm doing something wrong.

I need to give the door bins a good clean too as they seem to have hair and are sticky like my rear wheel well was. But the boot carpet is dry now and no water in the wheel well.

I need to salvage the seats quickly as the Felly sunroof has started leaking.

The Favorit didnt have a Cig lighter socket, I'm going to put mine in and may have to wire it in.

I'm sure I read that the door cards fix differently but are interchangeable.
