I am really stuck on this

Featured Replies

Sorry moderators but i realy need an answer for this as i have posted this elsewhere but getting nowhere and the wife wants me to get rid of the car.

3 days ago the car deadlocked all doors apart from the front passenger door to the extent that you could not open the doors from inside or outside and the kids got really upset thinking they were trapped.

Now the car is locking me out of the drivers side door and rear passenger side door i cant even open the said doors when inside the car but if someone on the outside of the car pulls 3 times or more very very hard the door opens.

Its really doing my head in, I have also discovered that when i have my lights on and i need to wind down the windows they dont work but when i turn off the lights they will wind down without any problems

The car still opens all doors at night and also winds down all windows and i have to take the battery off at night to stop it doing this.

I dont know what else to check as i have had the following replaced....

Drivers door loom replaced

Electric control modual in drivers door replaced

Drivers door lock motor replaced

Central Conveinence Unit Replaced

Front passenger and rear passenger door loom replaced

Drivers door control buttons replaced.

I have got someone to put it on Vag Com but they say that the cars ecu is not communicating with their laptop.

I think this car has got some serious electrical fault why would the windows not work with the lights on then when they are switched off the work perfect.

Just wondered if anyone has heard of this as this is becoming an absolute joke now and this post is a last ditch CRY FOR HELP as i just dont know what to do next.

Please anybody help (it sounds desperate but......I Am)

Thanks Again

Forgot to mention that i have also had the connections in the front passenger foot well checked for water and its all clear and dry and the electrical guy that came out checked the earth connections on the loom as it goes into the front passenger footwell bulkhead.

I am really stuck as its going to break my heart to get rid of her knowing that everything else is perfect :(

Either there is a fault with the convenience controller or the associated wiring. The connection from the light switch is at pin 14 of the 23-pin convenience controller connector. Check there are no shorts or loose connector inserts.

Check fuses F10/F14 are not loose.

Check the brown cable from pin 23 of the 23-pin convenience controller connector all the way to the earth point at 'A' pillar.

Pull fuse F42 and see if this makes a difference (see if VAG-Com works). You haven't changed the headunit have you?

Thanks for this the headunit was in the car when i bought it and its an after market one.

The fuses all seem fine and i have checked the earth continuity from the convenience wiring to where it goes down into the passenger front a pillar and its fine, But when i test for continuity going from the convenience wiring to the a pillar on the drivers side it only shows continuity when the ignition is turned on but not when its turned off.

There apears to be continuity where the 3 earths are within the front passenger side but the single earth on the drivers side only indicates continuity with the ignition on.

Thanks for this.

This suggests missing ground connection, the system appears to be using alternative loop via headlights (low resistance when off).

Try to short the 2 ground points together with a separate cable and see if the whole thing works.
