LPG conversion!!

Featured Replies

I've been thinking of getting a LPG conversion rather than selling my car and getting a diesel. I've had a few quotes and the best one is Warrington Auto Gas at £1270 fitted, not bad.

I've got a few questions i hope someone could answer as i've not got a clue about LPG.

The system they use is OMVL Dream, is this any good?

Would i need to get a new remaped on my car?

How would a remap work as they put an additional ecu in the car for the lpg system?

Cheers Paul.

Anyone??

An old question but I'm wondering how this went for you with OMVL - thinking of getting the same myself.

Have a look at my post here.

IIRC Dream are another re-badged AEB system like Zavoli.

Not the best system going, but by far not the worst.

Beware, it will limit the number of buyers when you come to sell, and LPG is not as cheap as it was 4 years ago, with the tax being increased on it over the coming years.

My brother in law fits gas systems, mainly to Range Rovers and they re map to get the best out of using gas. However there always seem to be problems with these systems, the main one is the customer finds that the savings are not as good as on paper. The mpg from the gas is usually less than petrol and some engines suffer from running on gas, Re sale value of the car would not recoup the outlay of the conversion and you will lose some space having the tank fitted. The price of LPG is getting higher. Sit down and work out how many miles of running on gas it will be before the conversion pays for itself.

I've had a remapped LPG Seat for 140K miles, took my time picking the system for a 1.8T engine and went with the Japanese systems as they seem to last the longest such as prins.

any questions just ask as I am selling the car with the gas system
