Looking forward to my courtesy car...

Featured Replies

I've just confirmed with Brooklyn Skoda Alcester my courtesy car for Thursday and Friday whilst the Octy vRS goes in for its 40k service...

Ford Fusion 1.4 Diesel :thumbdwn:

Mmmm... nice wheels.

If I take the day off, does anyone know if I can get it re-mapped to, say, 190BHP? I fear it may be a tad on the slow side.

I suppose this will make me appreciate the vRS even more... :D

 You never know it may be a bit like the Fabia 1.4 TDI? But then again... :D

When I booked the car in, they said it would either be one of two Fabia's or a Ford Fusion...

Prayer mat was out v v v quick I can tell you.

Consider yourself lucky. Claybank Skoda have truly knackered up Felicias as their courtesy cars, and they're godawful. Even worse than the Rover 100 I learned in, and the Citroen ZX my girlfriend owned (before the engine overheated and siezed)

Well... I cruised into work this morning in my "Sweet Ford Fusion"...

It is as poor as I thought (yes I'm moaning for the sake of it)

But I can put that down to having driven the vRS for the past six months non-stop. If I had this as a courtesy car whilst I was in the Punto  I'd not be unhappy at all.

Yes the Fusion is a bit slower, although not for the want of trying - as a BMW 330 found out as my shopping trolley sped past at fifty mph :D

Excellent over-the-shoulder vision, to look when you're cutting people up... Sorry, to make sure you're NOT cutting people up.

It does have a lovely gear change, esp. fourth to fifth - very slick.

Engine is chuffin' noisey, but pulls well... Might see if the dealer has a Fabia I can take for a spin on Saturday, to check out the difference. Which one do I ask for? (apart from the vRS of course... :D )

Does this make me a member of the Ford Fusion Fan Club?

Ask to drive one of the 1.4 TDIs, which is most similar to your Ford Fusion, then drive a 1.9TDI which is what I drive, then take yours, then add another few BHP to get where mine normally is. :D

Well, it's been over three hours since I was in the vRS... Starting to get withdrawal symptoms. :scared: :worried: This is slightly countered out by the experience of driving the Fusion :o

The questions are these...

1) If I like the Fabia (hopefully 1.9), will the missus notice if I part-ex her Fiesta against it? Possibly...

2) If I end up driving the Fabia vRS and I like it, should I chop in the Octy vRS for one? (cheaper insurance, better mpg)

3) Should I just not bother mincing, and go and buy a Mk1 Golf for no money, lob in a better engine (TT 225 please...) and have fun that way?

Possibly a passing comment like "the car's running really well"... ;)

Personally I think the 1.4TDi is nicer than the 1.9...admittedly it's less powerful, but it weighs considerably less so doesn't make the car as nose-heavy and gives better economy.

Smaller boot, less rear leg room, :gay: ...it comes down to what you want from the car! :D

POWER! The ability to beat that pesky Clio 172 Sport that I saw (briefly) yesterday...

Methinks the Octy is due a re-map...

And a bigger turbo...

Etc... :D

Get the swmbo a furby vrs, and chip you're octy. best of both worlds

could also be hidden benifits ;)

Slight delay to proceedings...

Dealer has just rung me with an update on my service.

1) Front tyres need replacing... One on the limit, one just below. Six months driving... oops. Awaiting quote.

2) Needs brake fluid change -

So... What happens if I don't get the air-con done yet? Will I suffocate???

No, it won't make the car airtight, just reduces the effectiveness of the aircon! :D

This is something most dealers seem to try and sell you while your car's in...

My car is in there at the moment (claybank) and i have had a newish octavia 1.9 tdi as my courtesy car all week now  so they must have got rid of the felicias?

True... I'm letting the dealer qoute me for Pirelli P-Zeros (on the car when I bought it), so I have something to go on when I get out the Yellow Pages on Saturday...

Any places to recommend in the Midlands area???

(Re-gas is now officially on the back-burner... till it starts to smell funny.)

Cheers for the link... Just need to get the tyre sizes from the car now...

Oh bu&&er it's at the garage  :parhmph:

Maybe I should have bought a car which is cheaper to maintain...

Like a Ford Fusion :D

every where i askled about re-gas and anti-doofering it was always about

Octy RS runs on 205/50x17's, assuming it's a UK car ;)

Oh yeah, slipped my mind until now...

Got a test drive for Saturday morning from nice friendly salesman Ian...

Black Fabia vRS :D:D:D

They happened to have a demonstrator out front

That is no exaggeration either. I can whole-heartedly recommend the experience to make you appreciate your own car, no matter what it is or how old.

Believe me, I really appreciate my car!

After a Fiat Tipo  and a Fiat Punto :rofl::rofl: I truly appreciate the vRS.

Especially after driving that lovely Fusion.

Will also be seeking quotes for a re-gas from a local business too.

I had a look in Yell and picked the first one it threw up. Mobile service who came to my house that day and charged me 60 quid for doing it. Takes about an hour, but basically they drain, evacuate and then refill the system. They were also happy for me to stand there and watch and ask them questions so excellent value for money :)

They say if you run the air con all the time it should be regassed every 2 years, or if you notice the cooling power not being as effective, and typically regas every 3 years if you don't run it all the time.
