I have to ask, what the hell is this Gollems Golden Nugget business about?

I surely can't be the only person bemused by this.

Most pointless feature?

It annoys me when I leave the wing mirror switch on 'L' and it automatically drops when the car is put into reverse, but I know that everyone else likes this feature.

The most useless thing about the Superb Mk II is that they have done nothing to correct the failures of the Mk I.

Depreciation - hopeless marketing (what sector are they trying to address?) with no estate.

Cambelt costs - £100 per year. Makes a joke of any emissions related tax savings and is completely uncompetitive.

Warranty - with flaky VAG electrical systems you need Korean style warranties to make it a safe purchase.

Rear seat fold - joke.

Rear door opening - joke if you want it right open in one go.

Engine - no powerful diesel without DPF. No thanks.

Launched bang on time for a recession they will have to do far better. Lemon of the future.

How can you say anything about car`s value as a used car ? It has been on the market for a few months now..... :thumbdwn:

Roto,

This reply is posted with all due respect before I start .........

When you talk about korean cars i have seen the finish quality etc of their cars give me Skoda any day, as for cam belts we all have them they are a fact of life we have to live with.

Rear seat fold hey my original one did not have it so that is a plus to some of us.Rear door opening check your facts you can open it in one go straight off seen it done in show room.

Most diesel cars have dpf these days yet again live with it

Launched at the time of recesssion I think a few pointers are in order here.

Skoda did not plan or organise the plonkers who run our or other governments, Skoda are one of the few car companies who as a brand are maintaining if not increasing their sales as money gets tight so less of the slagging of skoda.

As for no estate check again estate is due out in 2009 it will also be a great car.

As far as the failures of the mark one lets see the new Superb has new chasis, new body new interior, new engines yes i can see how its the old car NOT:confused:.

No disrespect but Skoda is building itself a good brand name and respect for its vehicles they are not turning out the same old same old cars that are so alike as per VW are even though the same company lets give Skoda some praise they are doing quite well despite all the critics, even Skoda owners who put them down.

And before you ask I do not work for or have any link to the VAG group

Any one feel free to add your comments.

SNOB (still waiting his new car, as the advert says because their worth it)

What car in this or most other segments had GOOD depreciation , and an estate is on the way :thumbup:I do think they should market it as a cheap Volvo S80 - Merc E - BMW 5 rival rather than Mundy / Passat class cars

Cambelt costs - £100 per year. Makes a joke of any emissions related tax savings and is completely uncompetitive.

This has yet to be proven, lets hope they have sorted things out this time :D

Rear seat fold - joke.

Have to totally agree with you on this one :thumbdwn:

Rear door opening - joke if you want it right open in one go.

I dont see the big deal in having to wait a few sec's if you want the hatch opening

Engine - no powerful diesel without DPF. No thanks.

Without DPF would emissions not be far higher , thus price and tax would be higher also

Launched bang on time for a recession they will have to do far better. Lemon of the future.

The car has been planned for years, no one saw this recession coming, the timing was unlucky - no more than that :(

I agree on most points ban the in house Skoda bashing.

typing round the swear filter... tut tut.

Roto,

Rear door opening check your facts you can open it in one go straight off seen it done in show room.

can you explain this please .AFAIK you have to hold the right button for three secs, wiat for the brake light to flash then press the centre button to open. ?

It's not even three seconds.

i agree - i think you have been smoking too many funny fags !!

It annoys me when I leave the wing mirror switch on 'L' and it automatically drops when the car is put into reverse, but I know that everyone else likes this feature.

surely its best to leave the switch in the heater position in the middle so that the glass is cleared. move to the L position when you want the mirror to move down ?

If you know gollem your instinct is that your'e going to get shafted therefore golden nugget services as to the other posts i have you beet athough it's not on a skoda it's a toyota avensis.

The alien light on the overhead console where the interior light is situated it's a little red led that points to the central stack, but is to dimto see unless your hand is 3" away from it.

As to the other rather explicit comment i can recommend tamazapan and dihydrocodine in 2 pints of single malt (i recommend superstition an isle of jura )After that you wont care and just fall back and talk to the giant pink rabbit on howgood the superb is

I have finnished

Well, let me reflect - is it "normal" behaviour to come to a forum of Superb II afficianados and ask about the "Most useless" feature, clouding the issue with a slanted reference to Lord of the Rings? I'd say it's likely to be apprentice troll syndrome kicking in, with a high probability of more to come. :orb_yawn:

I thank you for your eclectic and diverse replys to light banter to what i thought might be an interesting point to raise as all cars that i have owned have had pecularities. if my warped sense of humour offends the health and saftey defenders of the PC brigade

GET A LIFE:thumbup:

Most useless to me are the tiny door pockets - why not fit one's like the Octavia has

The lack of a right side foot rest, again like the octavia has

AND, why in a car with SO much room in the back, not have a seat base that can be lifted to allow the backrest to fold flat

Only thing that bugs me at the mo, and it's a tiny little bug is that he dual aircon seems to turn off and the left hand side sets itself to the same temp as the right.

I only have this as a bug because I like my side to be on low and the left to be on 18-19 to take the edge off. My Seat kept the settings but my Superb doesn't.

By the way that's the only way my Seat was better!!

I must tell the surgeon that i had suscribed to the skoda forum i was told that a total frontal labotamy would be required because i don't conform.

IF you don't understand my posts with my questions woven into my"warped sense of humour" try rod, jane and freddy book 1

This ambiance lighting is not meant to be seen, but to give a soft glow to make night driving less tiring on your eyes.Imagine how much of a distraction it would be to have a pair of red lights glowing out the corner of you eye.

I know roto will disagree with me here , but i find the glow nice for night driving.

why in a car with SO much room in the back, not have a seat base that can be lifted to allow the backrest to fold flat

This surely will be addressed when the estate is launched,(but why make the saloon with fixed bases??) i mean who will buy an estate that doesn't have a flat load area??

If they don't then i can't see them selling any (apart from to those who don't know about it!)

I would call it ambient lighting, but (there always is it seems) whoops humour, if you notice that the radio and heater display offers more ambient light than the alien.

HOWS THAT FOR A " PROPER POST"

I appologise to all that i digress from the point that i originally made due to the idiosyncracies of all car makers. this thread was started to see if there was anything on the cars that was absolutly redundent to use or to common sense.

I'am aware that common sense is not allowed any more could anybody show me what has taken it's place.

IF i stand in line i am the only odd one out

This thread is bizzare.

I like fish.
