How about the gear-indication in the MFD? With the manual 'box it tells you what gear you are in and what gear you should be in (unless the clutch is pressed) a bit distracting and pointless in my opinion.

Also with the cornering lights, had to point out more than once to gloating colleagues that my front fogs were not infact faulty but were designed to operate that way - and when I asked did they not have this on their 318's they got a bit grumpy!

That's one of the positives of owning a Superb... :giggle:

I can honestly say that I haven't found anything to be useless. I think all the gadgets and equipment are really good, especially the lights and Bluetooth. I'm also impressed with the sat nav, accurate and easy to use.

The most useless feature on mine is the delivery date (1st June) - Has May always been this long ?

The AC still works to de-humidify at any temperature, try it. In a normal car I always run the AC with heater for this reason, just crank up the heater until it is warm enough to overcome the AC. It takes that clamminess out of the car which I imagine is even worse in snow and ice. The quickest way to de fog the windows is to crank up the AC as hard as it will go, 30 seconds and it is all gone. I have never turned the AC off since I have owned the car even when I need heat.

@Ozsko I totally agree with you. I never turn my AC off, not even in the wintertime due to the de-humidifing effect.

Same here, car always has the AC on, even in winter. Stick it on Auto and 20 and you will get heat even if the AC is on, assuming of course its cold outside.

Likewise... always have the AC on

Lots of people having the AC always on here. Each to his own, but you will get better mileage by not running it unnecessarily. Also, AC compressors do wear out. I only switch on AC in hot weather when the blower alone cannot cool down enough (not very often around here), or when the windows are fogging up.

I will defy anyone to tell the difference in mileage between the AC on and off. The latest compressors are so efficient it is a non issue in the real world of motoring. As to compressors wearing out if you don't use the AC or at least start it on a regular basis you will need a new compressor due to the seals not being lubricated and drying out and releasing the refrigerant. Nissans a lot of years ago had the compressor engaging every time reverse was engaged to overcome this issue due to non use of AC during the winter.

Apparently with the later compressors they are lubricated all of the time now, whether the A/C is on or off.

This is because the later compressors are always engaged when the engine is on regardless of wether the AC is switched on or not, on the Superb you will notice NO difference in MPG because of this no matter if the AC is on or not.

I asked a mechanical engineer friend that works in the car industry this and here is his reply:

Rubbish!

Air-conditioning HAS to work harder when it’s warmer. You don’t get that energy transfer for free.

The modern air-conditioning systems use variable displacement compressors which ARE always connected. (My Subaru used an older mechanical clutch system to engage the compressor which you noticed with a jolt.) The variable displacement compressors “idle” when not needed and work harder when you hit very warm areas in the summer. The engine provides this power. It uses fuel to do so and thus the fuel consumption WILL go up.

So yes, you switch off when the sunroof is open. Otherwise you are wasting fuel!

No one in their right mind would even think of using their Air Con with a sunroof or a window open, this completly negates the whole idea of Air Con. The power used when in use is so miniscule with the modern systems ( perhaps a half cat power) that it is irrelevant, and only used in conjuction with the global warming brigade. I accept that there is global warming but turning off your Air Con will not help.

Driving with a sunroof or the windows open will cause just as much or more fuel increase, due to interuption of airflow, look at websites and organisations with recomendations to help to increase fuel economy.
