Rattle from driver side underbody

Featured Replies

I am getting rattling noise during clutch release sometimes from 1.9 TDI mk1 model. i.e. when i release clutch quickly in a slope, it is making vibration noise in the right side underbody. But I couldn't find the source. Any suggestions.

Exhaust heat sheild maybe, or the engine undertray.

I have already checked the metal undershield tray and side splash cover. How to check exhaust heat sheild?

I guess theres one under there somewhere but I not sure where exactly sorry mate.

On a lift. Not the most helpful sounding of statements, but the exhaust runs right down the centreline from the turbo to about the rear beam pivot line.

Ok. I will check it on a ramp.

I have checked the heat shield and all seems to be tight enough. Inner drive shaft joint will make this kind of vibration noise?

i dont know if you have done this (if so sorry), but i had the same problem.

it turned out to be a pin about half way down the exhaust line that was loose, the garage sorted it in mins

My mechanic suggests to change rear engine mount. Can you please let me know the part number?
