Recomendations for cheap motoring!

With the Golf, it's GTI or nothing really! Insurance isn't bad (£450-ish) and fuel isn't that much more over a "normal" Golf, and ones can be had for that money anyway!

But I think the Felly is a good idea... 1.3Mpi if possible, not sure how the specs work on them? Will have to delve into that forum section methinks :)

It's a tricky one, as there is such a lot out there at that price point. So useful that you narrowed down a bit earlier on

Given the same choice myself, I might go for something like this Mk3 GTi: Volkswagen : mk3 golf gti

Granted, the Mk3 was never a shining light in the GTi evolution, so I might be on the lookout for a few bits and pieces to improve the drive, and handling

Still, quite a lot of car for the money I feel...

The SLXi is top of the range, but I think they're all the 1.6 AEE engine. I'm sure I saw some 1.3's on Autotrader with air con. :rubchin: that would be cool :D

That's not bad, best colour for a Mk3 imho :)

The 8v is alright, it's not "really" a GTI ,but it's nippy enough.

Not really looked on PH, I think that's a job for my day-off tomorrow!

Good colour indeed!

I suppose the thing with buying a golf is would it really be cheap motoring, including the price of the inevitable mods? :D

If its really cheap you want & you are not worried about resale then look at Cat D write offs. With car values falling through the floor the Insurance companies are now writing off cars with hardly any damage, some with say just a scrape along the side can be driven away without any repairs. Also with the amount of totalled cars that arent badly damaged theres a great source for cheap spares

Just a few Ive found on one site with a quick google. These have already been sold by the Insurance co at a lower price so worth getting onto the Insurance co Auction sites

Combellack Vehicle Recyclers Limited
