Think I may have found my hesitation problem....

Featured Replies

Gave the car a good clean today since it was starting to become part of the road with the amount of salt and road grime that was on it. Thought I'd check over the pipes under the bonnet to see if I could track down any splits since through a long process of elimination I guessed it must be this that has been causing my hesitation problems (poor running when cold and rather abrupt gaps in power now and again). Noticed this on one of the two pipes coming out of the inlet manifold which I'm guessing is the cause of the problems.

Where does this actually go? I'll have to get onto the dealer to order me a new one. Free warranty is really proving itself worthwhile!

that looks very minor ?

if its not all the way through then i doubt its the cause of your issues but here's hoping.

from google images that pipe seems to come off the manifold and head down the right side of the engine, and must connect somewhere. What it carries and for what purpose escapes me.

get a wider angle shot

we aren't mystic meg

Hi -

Having the same problem myself i.e. hesitation at certain time while accelerating. In another thread it was suggested to me that my problem may be a fulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) unit. More recently it has alos been suggested to me that my spark plugs may be more of the problem.

The above crack in the picture seem very small.

octojoe.

That pipe looks like the brake servo pipe to me. Get it replaced ASAP.

Yeah that pipe runs to the brake servo! Get it replaced pronto if you want your brakes to work.

I wouldn't even drive the car if it's leaking mate.

There is still a second vac supply (which you can see in the background), but that is supposed to be used for the suction spray pump. So not sure if it'll take up the slack if the main hose is leaking badly.

Find some garden hose and some clips if your really desperate...

Going to get it replaced soon enough. I'm fine without the servo TBH if it does go. I'm used to race car brakes and even a road car without assistance isn't as hard as them....I've tried :P I know it sounds silly, but they actually much nicer without the servo. Much much more feel and none of the horrible dead inch of travel!
