Excessive Moisture

Featured Replies

every morning the interior windows seem to be soaking with condensation, not just a thin film

anything i can do to cut down on this ?........its getting a bit annoying

n/s/r door carrier recently sealed and since then, carpet has stayed dry, though water still seems to sit on the aperature seal like in a pic someone posted on here in another thread

i had a Mk1 Clio previous to this and one thing i thought id get with a newer car (10 years newer!) would be a reasonably moisture free interior

check the carpet is dry from the past leaking window and obviously check the other side! how about checking the pollen filter isn't damp also.

using the aircon and the recirculate option does help dry the car out tho.

I had the same problem.

Turned out to be the common problem of leaking doors (search).

Fixed the doors, and borrowed a de-humidifyer and dryed it out.

when sealing the doors, the guide only says to do the bottom half, would it be worth doing around the whole carrier ?

where is the pollen filter on these ?

passenger side footwell , look up under the dash , 2 slides to open the flap

Also worth checking the rear screen wash pipe isn't leaking or popped off.

As a general thing, check the spare wheel well and around the back end for signs of wetness too. Just to eliminate leaking light seals and the like.

And make sure the drains around the scuttle panel are free from leaves and other crap and detritus.

Also close the air vents when parking to stop damp air entering

I leave the vents open all the time to allow a flow of air through the car. Never really have any problems with condensation.

the vents on my dash are pretty much always closed, always have it set to windscreen

I have managed to reduce the amount of condensation that occurs in my Octy by putting the climate onto lo for the last couple of minutes of my journey. This replaces all the warm moist air in the car with colder (drier air) from outside. By doing this I get virtually no condensation on my front screen in the morning. The only downside is that you get a little cold for the last bit of the journey.
