Update: delivery date now end March, a couple of weeks later than expected. Waiting patiently!

Still dont even have a date for mine , ordered 6 weeks ago, I wont be happy if I dont have it by May

I have opted for park assist as only £70 more than front sensors, a demo proved how well it worked! saves scuffing those alloys when "you got it wrong" agreed it will only be used occasionally but I felt a handy feature. Should get mine end of April ordered back in Feb. My dealer said all Skodas are now on 12 week wait!

You may already be aware of this, but, as I understand it, the system works by aligning with the vehicles in front and behind, not the physical features (such as the kerb). If either of these vehicles has scuffed, so will you. That said, for the extra over the front sensors it was almost rude to refuse! It's great to watch the faces of those who've not seen it before, too. :)

Watched a video on youtube of park assist in opertaion and the car mounted the kerb so it appears far from foolproof

It was probably aligning itself with a car that had also mounted the kerb. The computer and sensors won't get it wrong, but you must judge which cars are sensible to align to, IMO. :)

Video in question

Note neither the front or rear cars are on the kerb

I stand corrected, Rich. Don't know what to make of that.

Sheesh, that kinda renders the whole thing useless. If you're going to have to look out for whether it will or will not hit the curb, you might as well do it yourself. :(

I've had a closer look at the video now and notice that the car to the rear is a smaller and narrower car than either the Superb, or the car in front. If the system aligns on the driver's side, that would account for the happening in the video, I'd guess.

FWIW, I've never had any such thing happen to me on the several times I've used it, or shown it off, parking on either side of the road. You have to leave the RH indicator going to park parallel to the OS kerb. Once I switch the headlights over to Travel Mode, I wonder if that changes too? I'll let you know when I've tried it. :)

Ray.

I've watched the video a couple of times and wonder if when it beeped he should then have put it into first before it hit the kerb, thus allowing the car to get into the space and then straighten up. The width of the parked cars may have something to do with it, but I would have stopped and engaged 1st before hitting the kerb

Perhaps the driver should have been watching what he was doing rather than giving all control to the car , fact is the system isnt foolproof and the only sensible solution is to keep a good eye out while the car is manoevering

Mind you i'd trust it to park more accuratly than my wife does

Back on original thread, my wife is now due to pick up the car on Thursday, so the promised March delivery to us turned into delivery to dealer on last day of March. I'll see it for the first time on Friday, but I've asked the good lady to take lots of pictures on delivery.

Edit: confirmed, duly picked up this afternoon and now in my wife's possession.

Edit: photos added on my gallery now, also on the Superb colour thread.
