MFD Radio Tuning

Featured Replies

With the help of various members of this forum I have recently installed the MFD sat nav in my Octy vrs.

Really like the unit, but came across something this morning which has got me stumped.

Tried to tune the radio into test match special on my way to a meeting this morning and couldn't do it! I needed to tune it to 198 LW but the AM tuning wouldn't search below five hundred and something. I know on some previous stereos I've had to select an extended tuning option to enable 198 but I can't work it out on the MFD at all.

Any thoughts?

Hi Richard

I don't know your radio, but sound like you radio is only MW Medium wave, and not LW Long Wave, some radio's are classed as AM and FM, and the radio tunes from 140 Khz through to 1600Khz but some of the better radio's have the two bands LW and MW (140kHz-240kHz for LW) And (540 - 1600kHz on MW) so check if it has a LW and a MW setting?

Radiotwo

LW and MW are separate AM bands, it maybe the MFD only tunes MW and if that is the case then the lowest you will be able to go is just below 558. Very few modern radios now tune the LW band, and I am suprised that stations still use this band.

you should be able to hit the "band" button again and it will take you to LW if I remember I'll check mine in the morn
