BP 102 octane any one tried it ????

Featured Replies

as above???

I'm not 100% but I think you need too be mapped for it, although it's got too be better than 95 ron.

mmm were would that be found as I havnt seen it before.

all the BP places I been never had it

Speak to Makefish i know he used to use it in his TFSi vRS when he had it.

I would imagine the difference would be the same as going from 95ron to 98/99ron. you would probably see a bit better fuel consumption (around 20 miles extra per tank perhaps) and maybe if your lucky a bit of extra power (read 1 - 2 bhp)

If the car is mapped for the higher octane then maybe you would get a bit better MPG/Power however i cant see it being much without specific hardware to support it say better fuel pump or injectors etc

Isn't this stuff about £2.50 a litre

yep lol might be worth just one tank lol :rofl:

You have too much money to waste...LOL

Yup I did try it, thread here BP102 in a vRS

It's a bit better than that, after upping boost and timing with the REVO Select Plus switch it was like having a new performance mod added to the car! Couldn't say what the bhp/torque increase would have been (but it was noticable) as never got round to sticking it on the rollers :o

As for any increase in mpg, do you really think that you'd put this stuff in to see how fuel economy improved ;)

but it would be interesting to see if mpg did improve even through the cost per mile would still be greatly higher.

Hi guys, don't do it, yes I spent £150 on a tankfull to see what happened, incredibly my bhp dropped down.

I asked BP to test the fuel to make sure the tank hadn't been filled with 95 ron in error, all worked out well.

The conclusion was that my map was unable to take advantage of the higher ron and the additive that were put in the to prevent detonation actually lower ed its calorific value, or something like that, I lost about 5 bhp going from optimax to 102 ultimate.

So unless you get a remap don while running the 102 fuel, it does not make sense to use it.

Cheers

Jim

You can buy at the BP station inside Silverstone, and it was about 250p/l back in June when I was last there.

Obviously, it's pointless unless your mapped to run it.

As i said further on in my previous post if the car is mapped for it then the increase might be more but i couldn't see it making that sort of difference in a non-mapped car. I could be wrong though.

I dont intend to pay £2.50 a litre to find out:P. Mine is quick enough on V-Power:D
