Westc has broken down and the error codes are...

17633

17634

17635

17636

Which I found on here are...

17633 P1225 Cyl.1-Fuel Inj.Circ. Short to Ground

17634 P1226 Cyl.2-Fuel Inj.Circ. Short to Ground

17635 P1227 Cyl.3-Fuel Inj.Circ. Short to Ground

17636 P1228 Cyl.4-Fuel Inj.Circ. Short to Ground

The car was driving fine before he parked and when he came back it would not start.

Any ideas??

also another 7 faults... possible earth fault from ECU (all short to ground).

oh, and it has just started.

Check the wiring loom - I am sure I have seen some pictures on here with really suspect (cracked / melted) cabling around the coil packs. However as a drive a diesel I am not overly familiar with the petrol engine layout :-)

well i was broken down in mcdonalds car park rang the breakdown poeple whilst there i had 11 fault codes and wouldnt start and then 20 mins later tried again and it worked  also just before car did break down we had noticed that the heating wasnt working is this linked

some one please telll me where i can find all the earths to the body and whick is the earth from the ecu

By the looks of it - from Haynes - there are Brown and Red cables which go to the Alternator. Looking at the diagram the earth must be from the alternator to the chassis - I m unsure where though.

cheers mate have spoken to lummox and he recons possible the fuel pump relay playing up so will get one of them orderd up:thumbup:

lummox i owe you a beer

thankyou verymuch

clive westall

someone must be able to help please

You changed the relay and are still getting codes...strange. Google seems to bring up others with this prob and often a new relay worked.

Immobilizer issue?

trying spare key to c if that makes a difference the aa guy checked the earths its one of them horrid faults that happens every now and again always at the worst time:thumbup:

im hoping there is someone thats seen it before and can say its that if you no what i mean....

I would check the earth connections again - particularly the gearbox earth strap and the earth point below the battery.

If the relay didn't work and the earths really are OK, I'd check the ECU connectors are secure and free from corrosion.

Just a shot in the dark ...... Relay 109 maybe??

May be worth doing a search on the forum.

Good luck!

Dave

Had a similar thing a couple of years ago with a VRS Octavia, that turned out to be the ECU power supply relay, which I suspect is the one that you have already replaced. In addition to the good advice above check the battery connections, the fuses and fusebox ontop of the battery and the battery charging voltage.

will be having a good look at the earth tomoz...it happend twice today ist time it happend it stated again straight after same 11 fault codes and the second time it turn over just took about 2 seconds longer than normal to start but threw up the 11 fault codes very strange...

checked all earths under the bonnet cleaned and re tightend and removed ecu cleaned all points and checked battery all okay still not starting atall now ...... any ideas guys this is a must as i need a reliable car if i cant get it fixed soon she wuill have to go to the scrapper:mad:

checked all earths and ecu cleaned and re tightend all of them under the bonnet still not working atall some one please help

can i swap an ecu out of another vrs to check to see if its that....

can i swap an ecu out of another vrs to check to see if its that....

It would need to be adapted and coded with VAGCOM

Have you checked for power at the fuel pump? could the pump be a bit iffy?

I suppose it would stop mid driving if it were.

havent checked that yet as i thought that wouldnt throw up those fault codes or would it ???

will check that tomoz also doesnt just stop once started its fine the other thing is this has got worse and worse now doesnt start atall

any suggestions on what to look at next????

Can you take a piccie of the relay you changed?

Also will these codes actually clear down?
