alarm going off randomly

Featured Replies

As per thread title, quite happily sitting at home when car alarm goes off randomly (stopping and starting - didn't realise it was my car until neighbour knocked on door after half an hour!). Checked all doors and windows are shut properly and it seems to have done the trick now, but any ideas what may have caused it to go off in first place?? Car is on my driveway and can't see any obvious signs of tampering etc.

Cheers,

Balham

possibly the cold, you no doubt pulled up in a warm car and as its cooled down the plastics have expanded or a seatbelt hadnt fully wound and suddenly wound up (from if it got caught on the seat), you might have a fly in the car or the settings might be set too sensitive.

just my thoughts anyway.

As SMStext said, possibly a fly or moth (or spider ! ) moving inside your car ?

Thanks for the replies, guys, Couldn't get it to stop so eneded up calling Skoda Assist. The hooked up the diagnostics and it turns out the the boot lock has a fault so even though the boot is closed the car "thinks" it is actually open. Have ended up locking the car using the internal locking button on centre console and thne closing the passanger door so the car stays locked without activating the alarm (apparently clicking the key fob button twice doesn't deactivate the alarm).

Hope everyone else's cars remain fault free over the festive period!

You can lock it by pressing lock buton on your remote twice within one second. Car will lock but without alarm on. You can confirm it by looking at drivers door led after double locking on key fob button. If it's off, then alarm is off as well.

Is the cat missing?
