Roomster airbag advice

Featured Replies

I am on the verge of buying a roomster which has front end damage. I dont know much about cars, but it appears to be panel damage, front bumper, grill, bonnet, nsf headlamp and radiator. I think I can cope with those ok, but the steering wheel airbag and dash airbag of deployed.

My questions are

Is it a fairly easy job to replace these airbags, and could I do it, the airbag in the dash seems to be a separate unit to the dash.

How would I know if I need to replace the seat belt pre tensioners and is that a specialist job.

If these are jobs I cant do, is there anyone in south west wales that could possibly help.

thanks

Dai

Might be worth sending a pm to Decron.

Hi,

Please forgive my ignorance as I am new to this site. Who is Decron and what is their speciality.

I am looking to source front end parts if anyone knows of a good source.

cheers

Dai

Decron is a font of all knowledge

Think he lives in Wales aswell.

Have a read of some threads on here to see what can be done.

Im assuming the dash will need to be replaced, along with both airbags and the control unit.

Budget for about £800 for a used set.

I dont think the dash needs replacing as the airbag is in a separate box on the dash if you see what I mean.

Any ideas on where to buy them, am also looking for a G28 engine sensor for a 1.6 petrol Audi engine. Used my handheld scanner today and the fault showed a engine speed sensor G28. Currently online looking for someone who sells them.

What was the answer, D? I'd have thought for something like that it would be better to have specialsts replace it? Seem to remember that wrecks to riches guy Dom saying the same when they did an airbag.

The rear part of the dash is all one piece. I suspect it's mucho pesos to effect a repair.

Good value if you can get it for the right money but they are only worth about £8k ish in good nick so the economics become difficult given the parts and labour costs. If you doing it yourself it may swing it but it looks like a write of and that speaks volumes.
