New Fabia VRS Availability advice please

Featured Replies

Hi,

Me again, you might have seen my "reasoning" thread where I basically spent 2 days changing my mind across range/manufacturers, but i've now set my heart on a Fabia VRS and am setting about purchasing one new, this thread is about how the hell I buy one!

Ok, so far i've spoken to 3 dealers (all on weekend, all are getting back to me about availability), basically they all said they could get one with delivery mileage but none were certain they could get one "made" (if thats how you refer to it, i've not bought a new car before).

Basically I want to specify this this this and this and have a price and have it made to order, is this possible or have the total allocation of Fab VRS's been taken up and currently sitting on forecourts?

In case there are any dealers looking on here, I'm after:

Fabia VRS NEW

Metalic Silver

Heated Seats (if I can)

Cruise Control (again if I can)

Air Con

Xenons possibly once i've seen them

Parking sensors possibly if they are available on this range and can be fitted.

The main thing for delivery mileage cars seems to be the heated seats as unless it happened to be specified orginally there is no way to get it, plus the fact that why should I pay

Hmm,

I think this is how it works - based on when I bought the Octavia, though this was 2 years ago so things may have changed.

I think the factory have manufacturing schedules set up where by they will make a certain number with sunroofs, some totally standard, some with Xenons etc. Some of these will go to dealers to use as demos or for general stock. Some are pre-ordered by dealers for specific customer requirements.

So if you want a vehicle with a certain combination of options then you may have quite a wait, unless there happens to be one sitting at a dealer somewhere. Any dealer should be able to search their system and see if there is one in the country, or if not when the factory are due to make one.

I hope this information is correct - I'm sure someone will correct me if it's not !

I've been looking on the Skoda website, seems to be a handful coming up as ex-demos, mostly without heated seats but for the right price I can leave that out, not really that fussed, looks like i'll be getting a ex-demo or low mileage one then, should save me a grand or so

Mine was ordered direct from the factory, took about 7 weeks to arrive :thumbdwn: but was well worth the wait  , I could have got a car a lot quicker but not the spec I wanted so I was willing to wait.

Looking at the spec you want I doubt very much your going to get a demo or a preordered example unless your willing to compromise.

If it was me I'd go with the wait and get exactly what you want.

The wait if someone has allocation is ideal for me as it means I can spend more time getting a good price for the impreza i'm selling, obviously if I get a good price right away then i'll be without a car for atleast a month :(

And if you want Cruise Control but can't find a vehicle with it on then you can always get that retro-fitted by Big-K.

Who is Bik-K? And will this invalidate warranty.

I've just been on drivethedeal.com and it will do me a custom car with everything i want for

Parking sensors can be retro fitted by your dealer.

Big K can retro fit cruise control ("KK" as it is known around here)

Heated seats I would have thought you will have to order from the factory

Zenon lights you will probably find on a dealer ordered car, unallocated car.

Just to add, Big K uses genuine VAG parts to fit the cruise. Once fitted you cant tell that it has been added to the car. Mine looks just like any other octy that has had cruise fitted from the factory.

Thanks, looks like I have two choices

a). hope a dealer somewhere has allocation and can get me a car built in a month or so to my spec via drivethedeal.com for the discount (unless a dealer can do this kind of price direct)

B). Get as near specification 2nd hand one as possible and get "Big-K" to fit cruise control and do without the other equipment the one I find comes without (heated seats, xenons, parking sensors (dont really want these, I can park my impreza in gaps 1ft longer than the car without them!)

Cool, got everything I need to launch a full on assault on this on Monday morning!

Is Big-K's cruise control the same as the factory one, i've never had cruise control, i'm guessing you get it to the speed you want and hit a button which instructs the ECU to regulate speed as its drive by wire anyway?? In which case I can see why a third party is able to fit this ;)

Yep, its the factory one. Basically you switch it on on the stalk and when you reach the speed you want flick the switch. Once on you can vary the speed using the flick switch and the button on the end of the stalk. Cruise is cancelled by using the clutch or brake pedal, if canceled you can give a brief flick of the switch and your previous speed is resumed. You can also use the accellerator pedal to pass another car without the cruise cancelling.

coooool :)

(see how i'm trying to make myself excited despite losing a 300hp monster, it seems to be working, the fabia is sounding more and more like a wonderful car).

BTW the list shows the VRS as having MSR instead of EDL, whats that then? I'm assuming ASR is basically traction control? hehe so many questions :)

Have you spoken to Broadspeed 121 ??

Seem on the ball !

who? is that a dealer or someone on here?

UHF

If you are trading the Impreza in rather than selling privately, you could do worse than try Marlborough in London - they have the Subaru AND Skoda franchises on the same site. I Did ;)

Type in Broadspeed - similar to Drivethedeal, if you phone them you get more discount or if you consider finance, this is supplied by Freeway RBS. I have used them before company cars etc good. Also Broadspeed are top drawer.

Met, xeons, cruise, Uk = 11500. be quick

Yeah i know the isleworth Skoda/Subaru dealership, been there before for servicing as its near a mates house, one of the places i'm ringing Monday.

They arent listing heated seats on the broadspeed website, also i will ring them too, no point paying the
