Hestitation, loss of power at 4500rpm Octy Vrs Mk1

Featured Replies

Already had a look at the engine splutter threads but that seems mainly to talk about splutters from cold, whereas my problems occurs all the time. It also has no cold start idle probs which seemed to be a fairly common issue on the sticky thread.

My problem appears around 4500rpm where it initially hits a flat spot, if you try to push through it, she splutters then clears itself by about 5250rpm and starts pulling again?

I have a OBDII code reader, although not VAG.com, which is showing no codes. I have tried resetting the codes anyway but the fault remains.

Has anyone got any ideas on this? From my experience on other vehicles (non-VAG) it doesn't seem like a MAF/Lambda prob.

What happens when a coil pack is dying? From the maintenance printout I have on the car it has had a coil pack changed previously, but the details show the EML was on and had a fault code at the time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Chris....

Managed to get it to throw up a code after much trying. Code is po321? Anyone know how this would relate to my Octy?

Sorry, full code details were po321 Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Range/Performance

Would have thought MAF would have been more air/fuel related?

Hi,

Just to confirm that the Engine Speed Sensor (Crank sensor) was changed by the dealer last weekend and the car is now spot on!

I changed my engine speed sensor last week but it was giving me P0322 :(

How much did they charge with fitting? I got the sensor at £85 from stealers and fitted it myself
