Advice required - potentially buying another Octavia..

Featured Replies

Well, in my previous life as a Briskodian, I used to own a 2003 Octavia I Ambiente. Was very pleased with it, until the inlet manifold broke and I forked out quite a bit of money for it.

As I'd changed jobs that year I decided to change it, and traded it in for a 2006 Seat Ibiza FR 1.9 TDI. Well, I have been very happy with it, clocking up 50K over the past two years.

However, another job change last year (June) and now I'm doing around 10K per year. Looking at the state of the market, now is a good time to get a replacement car, and my needs have changed slightly - I find the Ibiza too small when I need to go to LAN Parties (Do these about 4-5 times a year) and I do struggle with it. However, it is quick and admittedly a lot of fun.

So, I have been looking around at getting an Octy II with DSG. My father has one of these cars, and they are stunning. I have always been very envious of it, and decided that I will buy one of these now.

At the moment, I have a deposit down on a: -

2006 Skoda Octavia II 2.0 TDI 140 Elegance w/ DSG and has 23,000 on the clock. So, it has a few more months warranty left on it...

As for the specification of the car, it has the Sport Suspension and 17" Alloys, and Maxidot/Multi Function Steering Wheel etc.

For £9K I couldn't resist it, and am going to take a look at it on Monday. (I am most likely going to buy it)

Is there anything I need to worry about, or look for with this car?

Thanks

David

PS: Looking forward to rejoining Skoda :D

Seems a little pricey to me.

Seems a little pricey to me.

I guess that will depent on if its a 55 plate or an 06 plate. If its a 55 then its way overpriced, however perhaps not to much over for a late 2006 '06' plate. The mileage is also low so this will inflate the price somewhat.

Budget for a cambelt change at some point next year, interval is 4 years or 60K miles.

Pricey - I didn't think so. Most other cars of that age with DSG and Elegance are at least £10-11,000

It is a late 06 plate.

EDIT, looking at similar ones, there are 55 plates with over 35,000 miles for the same money... so I would say that this is a really cheap one.

Well, tomorrow is the day...

Now, just a 210 mile journey and the agreed part-ex for my current car to sort out first...

Pictar 2 - The left one is my Elegance picked up today, the right one is my Dad's

Pictars are 1600x1200...

PS, yes, we like Skoda's

Looks very nice
