buying advice: car registration date and plate

Featured Replies

A car I have been looking at is advertised as registered in Jan 2008, but is on a 58 plate. what does that mean?

was it driven before the 58 plate date?

In terms of looking up prices for it, do i look it up as jan(march) 08 or sept 08?

Does this mean it might have been a demonstrator?

thanks,

Stu

Sounds like a mistake to me....

Jan 2008 will be an 57 plate, the 5x plates run from September to March with the 0x plates running from April to August. 58 plates therefore run from September 2008 to March 2009.

it's got to be a mistake. It's either a 57 plate (which would be first reg Jan 08) or they've got the date of registration wrong and it is actually a 58 plate and registered after September 2008.
