Rear number plate light headache

Featured Replies

Hi everyone and happy new year.

Right, noticed a number plate bulb was out about a week ago. Got 2 new bulbs and was intending on doing it today. Gave a good squirt of plusgas couple of hours before I intended doing it as the screws are rusted badly.

Went to do it and can I get the bloody screws out.....NO

Bloody things are so rotten they are impossible to loosen. Think I may have to bust them off and buy new covers and screws.

Anyone got any tips or know the part numbers and prices on new covers and screws please ;)

Had to drill mates ones out then replaced them (and mine) with some stainless allen headed screws

also note that on the estate, the bulb holders will vanish inside the tailgate if pushed! So ensure your gripping the side of them when inserting the new bulb. Not sure if the same applies to the hatch.

I would try drilling the head off the screw and that way you won't need to purchase new covers. Then you can get some mole grips onto the screws and get them out. Stick in some decent stainless screws afterwards - no point sticking in some more rust-prone Skoda ones!
