Anyone removed there mk1 vrs gear knob, if so how was it done

Are you on about the whole stick or just the gaiter and knob?

If the latter then simply prise the gaiter away at the base and pull it up over the gearknob and prise the one time use clip off and the knob and gaiter lift of the shaft.

Use a jubilee clip to reinstall it securely to the shaft when refitting.

yeah i wanted to take the gear knob off because i was given a sparco carbon fibre one and was going to fit it to see what it looks like
