Superb II from Octavia transition?

Featured Replies

Has anyone here made the transition from the Octavia II to the Superb II? If so, what is your particular experience? Since I am about to make this transition myself next week or the week after I am interested in all kinds of comments! :)

I'll be interested to know your thoughts. My Superb II 1.9Tdi S is due in 2-3 weeks time.

Unlike you, I'll be sticking with the same engine as in my current Octy II, therefore, comparison should be more meaningful. I note you're jumping up from a 1.6 petrol to a 170 CR. In an ideal world, the 170CR would have been my engine of choice!

I will deliver my first impressions ASAP.

When I bought my Octy 3,5 years ago I was contemplating the 140 PD with DSG, but chose the 1.6 FSI manual since there were youngsters about to practice driving in the family. (Here in Sweden you are allowed to practice privately.) The smaller FSI had the best fuel consumption compared to its power. I somehow also had come to believe that diesels go best as automatics, so petrol manual was chosen. (Manual for the sake of learning to drive as well.) Back then I came from a Passat 1.8T, but never felt like going to a smaller car. Since I got the Octy I have also started commuting by car 80+ miles a day so the diesel now seems the better choice. While shopping for the Octy in 2005 I remember asking about an update to the then present Superb I, but the salesperson did not know anything.

So I can say that I have built up a "need" for a Superb II automatic diesel over the years. I have been very pleased with my Octy, hoping for the same with my Superb to be.
