Octy RS Brakes on 1.9TDI? (Brake Problems)!

Featured Replies

Can you fit the Rs 315mm brakes and calipers on a normal TDI?

I know the calipers and discs are the same as the Audi TT ones and I think they should fit on another octavia but i take it all you need is the carrier the caliper and the disc?

The reason im asking this is ive had 3 brand new sets of discs on my TDI and they keep warping after a few hundred miles.

They have bedded in correctly but they seem to keep going.

Two sets of brembo and one set of zimmerman OEM spec so i was thinking of putting bigger discs on in a hope to solve this problem.

Anyone got any ideas? on either?

What size wheels have you got, also what size are your current front discs?

What TDi do you have?

If its anything less than a PD130 then you can't unless you change the hubs over.

they might well not be warped, have you tried the high speed braking to clean off and resurface the discs?

I'm pretty heavy on brakes (when I use them I use them), and don't get warping issues with standard discs and pads (110, with 280mm discs, FSIII calipers).

To fit the 312s, you need new hubs unless you've a 130 or 140, and at least 16" wheels to get clearance for the 312s.

Its not a PD so i take it i need hubs!

The issues is ive been through 3 sets now are they know for the hubs warpping so the disc after time shapes to that!

Also was speaking to someone at skoda about the warped disc problem and they say they never get it but the one time they did they never solved it! surely its the hubs run out? change the hubs and the discs again!!! and that should cure it!

If you suspect hub runout to be a problem, that can be measured with a dial gauge.

Yeah im aware of that! its just i dont see what else it can be!

Also! how do you tell if its a PD?

I thought all the Octy 1's were tdi no pd's only the newer ones were pds's?

If it helps mine is a 2001 110bhp TDI

Same brake spec as mine, and I don't have disc warping problems. Either you're having bedding issues from non-standard pads, or you've got a runout issue somewhere I think.

Off the wall thought; try putting the spare wheel on each corner in turn, and see if that makes a difference. If so, I think you've been chasing a warped wheel or tyre through the brake system!

Changed the discs back to the old ones! with the same pads and they vibration went!!! must be something to do with the pads! going to try some new pads as im sure when these bed in correctly it will do it again!
