It had to happen - windscreen solution - on the road!

Featured Replies

First bit of cold weather, and my windscreen water solution might have been ok, but I think the fan jets had frozen. Suddenly there is no water out of the front, but there was out of the back. Thus the bottle was ok, as was the pump. I got home, parked on the driveway & tried iyt again, still nothing (after a 90 minute drive).

Reserved into the garage and then I hear drip-drip. There is water coming from the scuttle panel drain points in the wheel arches. I guessed a pipe joint must have popped off. So off with the wiper arms, rubber strip and a gentle easing up of the scuttle panel - and there was the popped joint.

I blew down the pipe to both jets and they were clear, and I blew back to the bottle and water bubbled, so no frozen water anywhere (which was going to cause a repeat problem). Put joint back together and all is good. Hopefully it will be ok, if not, I guess a zip-tie on the pipe joint might be a good idea, however I guess it is better the joint pops rather than anything worse happening due to the lack of pressure release.

20 minutes later and job all done :-) Result!

My washers worked but the fluid instantly froze to peppermint cream on the winscreen!

I got one little splatter just before I left work, and then no more water after that - mine froze on impact with the screen too. I think I find somewhere where the sun might land on the car tomorrow!!
